TCHOW Rainbow - by TCHOW- $1.99 -> FREE

Brilliant little puzzler, picked this up at release and don't regret it one bit. Really enjoyed every moment.

Currently addicted to: Duet game, Threes, Tengami, Oquonie, Platforms Unlimited, Perloo, Wave Wave

Wow, free! This has got some really positive reviews. Not free in the U.S. But will certainly pick it up.

Sales must not have been good. Usually I'm against this kind of stuff, but this is an excellent game and now there's no excuse not to try it

Here are my impressions:

This is a great game and even though the prototype version was on PC, it's the kind of game that was made for touch. TCHOW is a great indie dev, I've played a few of his other games, and Rainbow is probably one of his best.

Wouldn't really call it a puzzler, maybe an action puzzle game, but it's more about maneuvering and finding the best path through each maze like level. The game offers a nice amount of replay value, as each level has four objectives: simply complete the level, collect all stars, complete the level without lifting your finger, and complete a level only splitting your rainbow X amount of times. You can play each level multiple times and need different strategies for each of those objectives

The art style is wonderful, it's challenging but not unfair (you can always see where your path is going to lead you), and the developer plans to add more content depending on how well the game does.

Seriously, don't overlook this game. Rainbow demonstrates the unique abilities of touch controls very nicely. It's challenging and colorful, and the levels quickly grow more complex. Trying to complete the three optional objectives in each level not only requires pre-planning and mastery of the mechanics, it also adds a ton of replay value because you need to play differently to achieve each one.

Highly recommended and the developer said this when I asked about future content

...depends on sales and enthusiasm. I have a few ideas for different game modes.

I think they can upload apps to the AppStore long before releasing them.

Anyone remember when Oceanhorn "launched" like 6 months early?

I was thinking about buying it on the release. If would be feeling stupid now I had done so. I can't understand why some developers seem to like to do that to their supporters.
