App description: Tank Battle: East Front 1941 gives a unique wargaming experience on iPhone and iPad. A game of tactical combat on the Russian Front, during the German Invasion of 1941.

Fight as the Germans or the Soviets in a series of ever more complex missions. At the beginning of the year both sides have relatively obsolete equipment such as the Panzer I and T-26. As the war progresses more advanced tanks such as the excellent T-34 become available. Missions vary from straightforward wipe out the enemy missions, to capture key objectives, to protect vital supply convoys. There is a whole range of missions to reflect the tactical complexity on warfare on the Eastern Front.

The game system is based on, and a major upgrade of, the successful game engine developed for Tank Battle: North Africa.

More Tank Battle: East Front missions will follow with the release of Tank Battle: East Front 1942, 1943, 1944 and 1945 in the coming weeks.

We've not put together a trailer yet, but if you check out the one for Tank Battle: North Africa it'll give you an idea of how the game plays

Definitely enjoying this. HexWar keeps getting better. Each title that comes out seems to top the previous.

Meaningful positioning, combat analysis reading, and more units make this the best tank battle game yet.

I'll leave more impressions later.

Some info of mayor game-play updates and improvements:

Quote:
The whole combat system has been revised from Tank Battle: North Africa. You get a better idea by looking at the unit factors in help and by using the combat information option see the (i) on the screen. You can see all the combat differentials. Click the differential data to get an even more detailed description.

Move and shoot has a lot of variations. In general Soviet units get more penalties than German units if they move and shoot.
Hull down now works for units on hills against units no on hills.
There are virtual hill crests depending how far a unit is across a series of hill hexes.
Woods are cover for all units.
Strategic movement has been added so units move faster if at least 4 from the enemy.
Burning buildings block movement.
Artillery can mount and dismount.
Added hmg units, mortars, flames thrower infantry and flamethrower tanks, and rocket launchers.
Entrenchments are now hex side based rather than hex based.

And lots and lots of other new units.

How different is this title from 1944 and I believe their West Africa title?

Its based on the same engine, so it's mission/objection based. BUT they've added a ton that really enhance the experience. One such element is they added a combat analysis pop-up which appears when targeting an enemy. It gives you a break down of how the attack will play out damage wise.

On top of a ton more units and terrain bonuses, they added a flank attack bonus. So positioning matters much more.

If you're interested, I'll PM you with a little something.
