Default 2048 "by Ketchapp"

So the copy of the rip off now has its own clone. The App Store is in danger of disappearing in a puff of greed and irony.

How long before we get a Flappy Threes?

Edit: for those that haven't realised, the web version of 2048 is here and works flawlessly and ad free on iOS devices:http://gabrielecirulli.github.io/2048/
I urge you to play that rather than download this.

Available on GitHub, so I don't think it's even by the dev of this Threes! clone.

There's so many clones of 2048 on Android.

My friends on Facebook keep posting their high scores for this and I mention the original is Threes! and no one knows what I'm talking about...

I know. 2048 was even referenced in today's xkcd and I've seen colleagues playing it.

It's weird how fast 2048 took off (even though Threes! did pretty well on the app store). I guess it goes to show how much presence Web games still have vs the mobile space.

If the dev is reading...Can't change the volume on iPad Air iOS 7.1, it's pretty much as loud as it gets (I know you can turn it off though).

The game at GitHub, is this using the same resources?

The gameplay is obviously inspired by Threes!, but the rules aren't exactly the same. When you shift in Threes!, all blocks move one space in the direction swiped. In 2048, all blocks move until they hit a wall or a numbered block. This completely changed the strategy.

At the risk of being ostracized for saying it, while Threes! Is a more polished experience, I think I actually prefer this as well.

Shifting until the block hits a wall was taken from 1024 and the dev notes it on the GitHub page. I also have quite a few clones on my Android and iPad to play when I get frustrated with Threes! since most of them play a lot easier.

I like this, but it has no volume control. Makes it hard to play when the volume is cranked way too high.

Does anyone know the history of this game's development? Given the outright similarity to Threes, was the original browser based version of this game created before Threes? I can't help but feel badly for the developer of Threes to see their work get cloned this way.

Given there are so many clones, is there a truly "official version" of 2048 that is the one created by Gabriele Cirulli?
