--- NEW UPDATE : INTRO CINEMATIC ---

Overview
LEAP OF FATE is an action game with randomly generated levels, a huge tree of magical powers, and a whole lot of dying. Do you have the skills needed to survive the trials and explore a modern mage’s multitude of alternate fates?

Story
New York city, present day. Unbeknownst to the average man, and hiding in the shadows of the city, are those who can manipulate the very fabric of reality. These mages, sometimes known as cabalists, technomancers, or illuminati, use their extraordinary abilities to further the goals of their secret societies, often pulling strings from behind the scenes. But power comes at a terrible price and forever alters the fate of those wielding it.

In LEAP OF FATE, you play a fugitive mage who heeds the call of an arcane temple hidden within the city. Through this lethal rite of passage, you will face countless challenges while growing your magical abilities. If you survive, you will forge yourself a new fate. But what if life was not a single path, but rather a branching tree leading to different futures; would you be tempted to explore them all?

Gameplay

LEAP OF FATE’s action is fast, skillful, and unforgiving. You only have one life to progress as far as you can in a session, and since there is no automatic health regeneration, damage must be avoided at all costs.

Surviving requires good positioning, effective offense, and finding a way to abuse whatever combination of magical abilities you happen to have upgraded in that session.

Here is our main character, modeled, textured and lighted as you'll see it in-game. It's made of just about 2000 triangles.

Here is a sample of the enemies you'll find in the first level of the game. These are actual in-game models.

Here's the theme song for the game : Paranoid

We' ll update this thread as often as possible with new development. The game is currently still early in production, and we'll have a lot of nice surprises to reveal in the upcoming weeks and months.

Thanks a lot for reading this, we appreciate it!

Holy ****.

Is this a dystopian fantasy rougelike?

*Faints*

Every word on this page made me scream in joy on the inside. Can you give us a bit of insight as to what gameplay is like?

Damn, this art style. I love it. Gritty urban fantasy is awesome
Do you have plans to bring the game to other platforms besides mobile?

Edit: nvm, saw Steam Greenlight mentioned on your site. Yes! You got one PC buyer lined up

Thanks for the kind words, guys, we really appreciate it

JCho133 : a dystopian fantasy roguelike ... wow, I never thought of putting it in those terms, but yes, that's pretty much exactly what it is, nice phrasing! As for the gameplay, since you seem to be a connoisseur, imagine a mix of Binding of Isaac and FTL, but with gameplay reactivity and controls more akin to League of Legends. All that plus our own special spice.

Bronxsta : yes, we are developing PC and mobile simultaneously. And thanks for the vote of confidence.

Ulysses_31 : don't worry, there's plenty more to come. We are currently making some improvements to our in-game art-direction, and we should be able to show screenshots soon.

By the way, here's a picture of Angela showing our prototype to Jared Nelson (from Touch Arcade, of course ) at the GDC just a couple weeks back.

Although the prototype is still an early one, Jared had good words for our controls, and our targeting system in particular.

Our goal is to provide precise, reactive and easy-to-use controls so that players can forget about the controllers and rather focus entirely on expressing their skills. This is no easy feat for a mobile game featuring fully controlled 3D action with multiple abilities, but based on the comments we received, I'd say we are certainly close to the objective!

More updates soon!
