They made one of my favorite puzzle games for iOS - King Oddball, and they have a way with matching games, Azkend is head-and-shoulders above most of its competition.

This is a really great game but then again pretty much everything these guys have made is great.

Impressions:

First of all, The theme: I'm not a Hippy Chick named 'Karma', I don't drive a Nissan Leaf, I don't have a tattoo of my Astrological Sign, and I don't dig butterflies and fairies. So, the theme of the game doesn't appeal to me even a little.
That's easily overlooked. Within 3 levels I could pretend I was swiping cat skulls, tacos, or throwing stars. The theme matters little when the game is this good.
Yes. It's a matching game.

If you like this sort of thing, this is a damn good one.

This is bloody good news. Match3 + 10tons.
Can be nothing but good.

Hi, you seemed to be lost on the Internets.
This is TouchArcade, where 2$ for a game is too much, 5$ is an outrage, and 10$ or more is putting sugar in their car tanks whilst killing puppies.

Thanks for the positive impressions! This is our first F2P puzzle game, so we're really interested in hearing what you guys think. We like to think we're pretty good at making premium puzzle games though (Sparkle, Azkend, Joining Hands games, King Oddball, Tennis in the Face and what not), so that should give us a leg up.

I haven't played far enough to really give a good impression about the F2P Mechanics.
I will once I get there.

Would you care to explain your strategy? Is this the way you guys plan to release your games going forward?

There's no definite long term strategy regarding free to play. What we're doing with Puzzles and Pixies is first of all making a great game, especially for the people who don't like to pay upfront for games. We also want to see how it works for us financially, as we have a really solid grasp on what we'd be looking at if we had released the game as a paid download. After we get this information and feel for things, then it's time to formulate a strategy for the future.

If anything, we're directing some of our production capacity back to more core oriented games on desktop and console market. We've had significant success on Playstation 4 with the games we've released there (Sparkle 2, King Oddball and the remastered Crimsonland), and Crimsonland is doing really good on Steam too. So it definitely makes sense for us to create new titles for these channels and markets as well. It'll be interesting to see how these titles do on mobile!

We're not abandoning mobile and casual game production though, not by any means. We just release slightly fewer such titles, and perhaps some of them will be free to play, we'll see.
