I bought this on sale a while ago and I really enjoy boardgames but it was hard for me to get into this one. It is a top notch production but the rule set is very deep and complex. If you have never played this game before be aware that it may take a decent time investment to fully understand all of the intricacies.
I bought this at release at full price and still thought it was worth it. It's probably the best ios port of a popular and highly acclaimed board game. Despite its innocent look (a la FarmVille or harvest moon), its a deep and difficult board game where you feel strapped for resources, strapped for time, and mostly lose. If you like those modern, complex board games like Catan, Pandemic, Suburbia, etc you'll most likely enjoy this. If difficult board with long tutorials explaining complicated strategies don't interest you, avoid.
The game is about building up a farm and family. You vs the AI at who builds the best farm by a certain number of years. Problem is, each year has a certain amount of turns where you need to allocate workers to gather resources to build while also having enough food to avoid starvation at winter. Bigger family gets more work done but also requires more food. That's pretty much it in a nut shell.
