Default Egads! Not buying Apple.... Getting Galaxy 10 for my wife.

Her iPad 1 is just about dead. Plus she can't DL much new stuff. So, for Mother's Day, my kids and I are getting her the new Galaxy 10". Mostly for 2 reasons..... Expandable memory, and price.

I don't know, but I imagine the screen is better than the original iPad, and it has a camera, not that I expect her to use the camera for anything. She likes FaceTime, and uses it on my mini, but she only calls her sister, And they can Skype.

She doesn't do much on her iPad. Mostly she plays casino games and match 3 games, oh, and lots of Facebook before falling asleep. Not much else. She doesn't even listen to music on her iPad. She doesn't read books, either.

So, do you think a Galaxy tablet is a good choice for her, considering what she does?

It sounds like the Galaxy tab is a good move; go for it. That's a very nice mother's day gift.

Or get yourself a new iPad Air and give her your current one

Beats what I normally get her.... Got a nice tip on a job last week so I figured it was time for a nice present for a change.

Games are better on ios.

Sd cards, flexibility, and price are better for android. Plus some things like removeable batteries, larger screens, spen, and others make some devices awesome.

Like I said.... She plays limited games. Slot games and things like Bejeweled..... That is it. Once in a great while she might try a hidden object game, but then ends up deleting them.

I am not sure she will even need an SD card..... Her 8gb iPad has never been filled up.

Honestly, I probably will get a Galaxy Tab at some point, just for the larger screen, yet lower price. I love my mini, but I think it is both too small, yet too large. I watch a ton of videos on it while it sits on my night stand..... On any given day I wish it were bigger or smaller.

A Samsung Galaxy Tab sounds like just what she needs. From your description, it does not sound like she has many apps tying her down to the Apple ecosystem.

It is lighter and cheaper too.

Too many versions of Samsung Galaxy <insert name here> <insert number here> for me to keep track of. But it should be way lighter than an iPad Mini...
