Default Pongo Pongo Premium

Hi!

On May 22 I'm releasing the ad free version of Pongo Pongo. The games is about keeping the ball inside the circle with one paddle. The control is made only by tapping the screen (not swiping as you would expect from all other ping-pong like games). To earn point you have to estimate your paddle move and tap in appropriate time.

As a bonus you can change the color and music theme (there is also a mode where there is only one black ball and paddle, which can be seen at the end of the promo video).

The game was quite popular in China. Had its 3rd place in Arcade Games on Google Play (despite of fact that it is also distributed by unofficial channels, however with 1.0 version which didn't have the high scores implemented) and 14th place in Arcade Games on App Store. On both markets with high notes (on App Store with 395 very high notes in just week).

Note that the objective of this game is not to release another "shi#@ty" game nor the next top game. It was born from frustration that only Mr Flap was the only real competitor for flappy bird. It showed me that there is unlimited space of ideas for games. The only question you must ask is - "Is it brings something new?". This game shows also that people tend to play with expectations, but only playing with heart and harmony will make you a master. Chinese Men are pretty good at this game. Actually they are hardcore players. The records is 130 points and first 100 people have reached 31 points! On averange the people get reach 10 points and then ran out.

Warning this game is highly annoying for casual players and shouldn't be run by them nor commented ;-) Just let it go or go back to flappy ;-)

The price will be $0.99. There is also free version for those who don't mind the ads.

Here is a promo video (has old info about the record):

And the last thing is about this game is the history of popularity. I have posted info about this game one month ago here on forum in other sections. It was noticed by few and downloaded. Then forgotten for few weeks. Suddenly it appeared on unofficial channel and was welcomed by its community and finally noticed by official markets. This is one of the reasons why it is still popular only in China. The second can be their long history of playing ping-pong.

The last thing about framerate. Yeah I know the problem. Was trying to solve it but the ball on white screen with its speed always will jitter (tried at 50fps with programmatic move, at least on Unity3d).

Thanks for attention and see ya on Game Center.

I grabbed one of the promo codes this morning and finally sat down with this tonight. I definitely dig the twitchy and "one more go" aspects of the game. It is difficult at best and crazy hard when the ball cuts tight angles. Trying to wrap your brain around when to hit that paddle back on those tight angles is near impossible! My high score is 12.

Following is my review. I previously posted in the wrong pongo pongo thread.
Re posting here since this is where it belongs. So far my score is 51 😃

Pongo Pongo Premium

I hate, no.. I love this... ummmm; no, I hate, no love, hate, love..., GRRR!!!!
Well, actually, I love this game. Unfortunately, I think it's out to get me. (Kidding!)

This game is so basic, it's genius, and it should be at the top in the category of 'Game Apps that will drive you crazy.' Pongo Pongo is a game that needs and deserves every bit of your concentration, diligence, perseverance, craziness.....

There's a round circle with a tiny ball in it. Along the edge of the circle, is a paddle. Think Pong, only curved. Pong in a circle... Tap the screen to start

Every time you tap the screen, the paddle changes direction. The goal is to keep hitting the ball with the paddle, to keep the ball in the circle, without missing or goodbye ball. Simple enough -right?
HECK NO!!!

This game is difficult. So difficult that the first time I got a score of 2, I was cheering out loud! I was in public, waiting in line, when this happened! LOL
Funny thing; I had plenty of room all around me to keep playing after that!

There's some nice lounge music which convinces you that you can do it, but then, abandons you when you start the game. Actually, I like this feature. While you are playing, it's just you, and the sounds of the game.

As I said; the game is difficult. But not impossible. To prove this, I decided I would not write a review until I scored at least 50 points. Hard work; I tell ya'. (As I write this, my highest score is 51. Every single point I earned, came with a sense of great accomplishment and probably a couple of loud woo hoo's & yee haws or something.... he he.)

My best advice, before you start the game is, you might want to be alone. Frustrated grunts and yelling at your device, doesn't go well in a post office, bank or supermarket. Believe me.. I know!

Pongo Pongo is a game worth getting. It'll suck you in and show you who your master is. But; you've got this. You'll show the game it can't beat you.

Over all; difficult but not impossible. Awesome time waster and actually, a bit of fun.

Yay, someone else on TA is playing this! Nice review Lavender! 51 is impressive. I got close to breaking my high score a couple of days ago, but it's still less than half of yours! I love simple but difficult games like this. More, please!!

Edit: 36!

Got a promo a while back. Lavender wrote a fantastic review that I could not top. Anyway dev, you accomplished your goal, not make a bad game. In fact this game is great. It can be frustrating at times but in the best kind of way. You will lose a lot but it has that addicting quality that makes you want to keep playing. When you beat your high score you feel terrific! There is a bit of a learning curve in order to start a serve, I am not sure if this is a problem or not or if it should be improved. You have so many styles and sounds that keep the game fresh. This is a good little time waster. I do recommend this to pretty much anyone who likes quick challenging games that are addictive. I do wish though you could add some type of accelerated swipe up action that could move the paddle temporarily faster for the volley. Because some shots are impossible to make because it moves too slow.

BTW, this entire thread should be moved to the released section.

I agree with everything you wrote. Nice Impressions. Do mods move threads? Still can't get past the wall of 36!
