I'm very tempted to get it, but as someone that's never really gotten into simulator games, I'm wondering if it'd be a mistake.

Currently playing: ALL THE THINGS.

I am a fan of paid games with expansion/gameplay-adding/cosmetic DLC and freemium games with one-off in-app purchases.

Sims are good if you like the subject matter, I hate boats so would not get a boat sim.
I like trains and building my own railways.... If that does not appeal to you then save you money
If the idea of being in a train cab and driving sounds like fun and creating railways with an editor then it should be worth a try

I will second this. I love simulators (enough so that I built my own cockpit for flight and racing sims) but I have no interest in trains, so this game would be total boredom for me, even as a huge sim fan.

Find something you care about, or something you want to learn about (first time I tried the Black Shark (ka-50) in DCS, I spent about two fricken days reading manuals and setting stuff up...and loved it!)

The nerdier you are, the more likely it is that you'll like simulators. Age helps too..

Last train to geezerville leaves in 2 minutes.

LOL, who hates boats? I can see a mild dislike of them, but hate?

Did one run over your puppy as a kid?
