Surf Prodigy 1.2 update report

Surf Prodigy Available in the App Store

*** UPDATE INFO FOR 1.2 ***
Update 1.2 is in the works and will be released for review to Apple in the next couple of days. Here's what's coming up in this iPhone surfing game.

- new obstacles such as rocks and pilings (DONE and part of the scored challenges)
- tweak control system to add stall, pump on wave ( IN PROGRESS)
- new logo ( IN PROGRESS )
- Sharks!!!! (IN and circling - not going for the kill yet)
- jetty, submerged structures (IN PROGRESS)
- fixed wave height on wave 1.0 so you don't pop above it (DONE)
- crisp textures on menus and in-game. (DONE)
- persistent settings - music on/off, low res on/off - remembers after restart so you don't have to change them again (DONE)
- upgrade surf/comp/free buttons (DONE)
- upgrade button resolution for options/stats/help/location (DONE)
- changed first wave to be 1.0 size to look better for first user experience (DONE)
- added better spray and foam from board (DONE)
- added aerial targets (DONE)
- glide better on wave (DONE)

That's great news ! Looking forward to it !

I have another suggestion/question ... I personally feel the picture of the surfers face is unnecessary when playing and is not great quality which detracts from the quality of the gameplay and graphics overall.

Keep up the good work, the game is great and I hope you do well enough to continue work on it !

The pic is the sponsor and is meant to portray a sense of teamship you have with the sponsor (they come along for the ride). While I love my cartoon characters - it seems others don't so I have a guy who has been doing illustrations for years, to upgrade the art in game.

Actually I think I will post new art up here as I value feedback from this community and they can either say YAY! or EPIC FAIL That way only the good art stays in.

Quick update. Obstacles and aerial targets are complete and part of the challenges.

Also shark is in! (no head mounted nuke launcher yet - but it's early days)

I think I'm going to split the game into two. When you launch it asks you to choose either "Pure" or "Extreme" - Pure being the original game with enhanced controls, and Extreme being all the arcadey challenges.

Thoughts on this anyone?

Having the choice sounds good to me.

I think I'd prefer just a 'pure' experience, although the the 'extreme' sounds interesting.

Something else that's going in that was sorely needed, is a bunch of new wipeout anims to better match the context of the wipeout, rather than "one wipeout to rule them all". Should make for some humourous action
