Poll: Gesture-Based Spell Casting

Arcana: Spell Duel has both Gesture-Based spell casting, and menu-based spell casting. The benefit of the gesture-based spell casting (besides being cooler!) is that it is also much more powerful. While all spells require energy, with gesture casting you can cast spells beyond the energy you currently have. The penalty is that you take damage for doing so.

The harder part about gesture-based casting is that you need to know the patterns. There is a screen with all the patterns in it available from the main menu, but NOT while a duel is running. I had decided to NOT include the pattern help in a duel to make it more skill-based.

Recently however, someone thought I should have kept it available.

The question is this:
Given the benefits and penalties of gesture-based casting, if you were to duel someone using gestures, would you want them to have the ingame help and see the patterns "in case they forget". Or would you rather have you (and them) learn them/write them down.

I'm helping test this right now, and even though it's not the greatest poly count, and the player models aren't exceptional, they are decent, and the game is pretty fun.

There is also the ability to duel online... which is even better!

Really needs some better graphics if you want to stand out on the appstore.

I agree! Unfortunately I'm just *one* guy, and my art talents are well, limited
I look for good art to buy Rest assured, I'm considering some strategic partnerships for the future.

Leave the help out of the duel. Make use learn/record the gestures we want to use.

you kidding me dude? For a single dev these are very impressive.

Definitely keep the help out of the dueling. It is more fun and challenging to have to memorize them. A real wizard (or mage or sorcerer or whatever yer callin em) wouldn't be able to consult his spellbook in the middle of a duel

I decided to keep the Arcanix library accessible from the main menu's help, but leave it out of online gameplay.

Thanks everyone for your responses!
