Hello everyone, recently I found a NES emulator in the iOS Appstore. The app works on devices running iOS 7 or higher and it's best to use it on the iPhone 4S or higher because it lags on the iPhone 4. So act fast because emulators are known to get pulled and make sure you back the app so you'll still have it when it gets pulled!
  1. How to add games:
  2. 1.Download iFunBox or iExplorer.
  3. 2.Once you downloaded one of those programs. Plug in your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch (5th Gen) and open up Lawnmower Retro Arcade.
  4. 3.Download ROM and unzip the game (MAKE SURE THE ROM IS A .NES FORMAT!!!)
  5. 4.Use iFunBox/iExplorer and place the ROM that you downloaded in the document folder that is loacated the Lawnmower Retro Arcade app.

(Read more here on how to back up apps on iTunes?)

Downloaded it onto my non jailbroken iPad and it works. Just have to see how to load roms

But tested it in my jailbroken iPhone and no icon appears despite it saying it's installed. Don't get me wrong as my phones jailbroken I don't need it but just wanted to test in case in the future I'm not jailbroken

It works well so far. Just make sure that your files are .NES (and not in zip folders).

Do I have to mess with the file on my Mac to install the roms?

Nothing major, just have to get to the folder structure and copy any .nes games into the Documents folder under 'Lawnmower retro arcade'. Easy to do with something like iFunbox or another program etc

You install something like iFunbox on your mac or PC (i'm not 100% sure about mac as i have a PC), you then connect your iOS device, dont use itunes. Open iFunbox, find the folder for this app, then in there under documents you copy the .nes games then disconnect and start the app again

It works for me now, just had to reset my device and it works fine on my iphone. Added a few games via iFunbox which now appear. Not really any options to change but the couple of NES games i've tried work fine

But i dont see any options, eg save state/load state etc. So quite a basic NES emulator

Edit - done a few more tests. If you leave the app running in the background (can also turn your phone off) as long as the apps still active when you come back to it the game continues.

It creates a '.sav' state in the folder so theres basic resuming going on there. Close the app completely and come back to it and the game seems to restart

But the games play well and the sound sounds fine
