Matchstick Memories: A Meta Text Adventure

"matchstick memories" is a side project I've been working on forever. It's a barely well-written text adventure that uses modern mini games like Minesweeper and Match3 to navigate the text based world. I'm not actually sure if it has a target audience, but might as well post about it at the regular haunts. :-)

This looks really cool. But I've never played minesweeper, so I don't really know what that means.

I play Glorkian Warrior because I am the Glorkian Warrior.

Minesweeper is a classic typically bundled with previous versions of Windows; you've probably played it. There are a series of blocks and you click on them to reveal clues in the form of numbers indicating how many neighboring mines there are. If you click on a mine then game over so you have to logic out and avoid mines while uncovering all other tiles. Minesweeper is a really great classic desktop computer game.

Congratulations for this "bold" idea! I think is one of the most original concept i've seen lately. Mixing three completely different games' genres into one app deserves consideration.

Thanks y'all. Maybe it will catch on. Minesweeper is actually just one of the mini games you play to maneuver through the world. String match and Match three actually play a larger role much of the time.

Holy cow this looks neat.

As soon as I get a couple of bucks into the account I'm going to try this out!

I'm OK with mazes of twisty passages as long as there isn't a cow blocking the road...

Thanks guys. I've already had more downloads than I ever really expected it to have. Might be able to buy my kid a bike! :-) I'm out of promo codes, but if I have to push an update I'll come back and bump for great aplomb.

Okay, I've been playing it for a while now. Nearing the end of the game, I think. It's pretty great, actually! The puzzle stuff is all quite well done. It's amazing how simple palette changes make the same puzzle-type seem like a brand new challenge. It can actually be kinda disorienting. That's cool.

The text adventure is pretty arty... all about unlocking memories. (It's not a ZORK style dungeons and dragons type adventure.)

My favorite parts are where it says "RUN", and then you have to solve the puzzles really really fast. That's hard, but awesome.

I play Glorkian Warrior because I am the Glorkian Warrior.
