Mobius Final Fantasy (by Square Enix)

"Born of a line unending."

You awaken in an unknown world having lost all your memories.
Where you came from, where you're going; without knowing these things, you walk.
Guiding you is a mysterious voice who says ――
This is the land from which hope originates, Paramitia.
The light of hope will not shine on you, who walk with downcast eyes.

Release Date: Spring 2015 (JP), TBA (NA, EU)
Platforms: iOS, Android

Producer: Yoshinori Kitase (FF VI, VII, VIII, X, XIII)
Scenario: Kazushige Nojima (FFVII, VIII, X, X-2)
Character design: Toshiyuki Itahana (FFIX, Crystal Chronicles, FF Explorers)

Teaser site: http://www.jp.square-enix.com/MEVIUSFF/en/index.html

Yoshinori Kitase:
Quote:
"A new era of gaming is here.

We're crafting a full-scale, high-quality RPG world the likes of which has never been seen on smartphones and tablets. This is the end product of longtime FINAL FANTASY creators bringing the series to mobile--and things will never be the same."
Some other things we know:
-SE is bringing in FF veterans to work on this title
-Warrior of light theme
-"Automated map movement", perhaps like a map of the entire world and then you select places of interest to explore
-Will play like a traditional FF game including exploration, tactical battles, leveling, jobs, and abilities

A poster on NeoGAF bought the Famitsu issue with the interview of Sakaguchi and Kitase. Here's a quote on Mevius:
Quote:
Kitase shows Mevius FF on an iPhone and Nexus 5. The interviewer is wowed by the graphics. Kitase explains that in the latest iOS8 they use a graphics API called Metal. He says that although you select the places you want to go on the map and you are automatically transported there, the exploration of the fields, the strategic battles and the leveling systems conform to the orthodox FF games. The scenario is by Nojima so the story will be on par with a numbered game, featuring refined plot twists.

In no way is this title related to the Japanese cigarette "Mevius".

Squareportal said that moving around the world is said to be automated, like in Infinity Blade. :/

Automated? So it's Infinite Fantasy? You know long time fans will hate this right? You just lost like 75% of potential customers from that. Thank you Square Enix, everyone wants this.

Well, it's "around the world." Oceanhorn is just like that. Better yet as an example, the Chaos Rings series is exactly that, where you have a "base" and choose locations to traverse.

Hopefully traversing each of the locations is free-move. Now if this part becomes a bit like Infinity Blade, for an FF title, that would be disappointing.
