One reason why I think vampires could work is going off all those silly 'MMOs' themed off them. This would actually be a decent game with that theme with an ever-changing fleshed out "mini world" but funny AND scary in a comic way. You watch, if we don't make it ourselves, this concept will get done on the platform before long by someone else. Add in the boom in vampire-related movie/book franchises, there is a strong demand for a proper franchise on the iPhone with its own mythology.

I am just as happy with my idea for a dinosaur theme however, so whatever works

As I think I said in this thread, my mind never shuts down so ideas are always coming off my head and into Microsoft Word/Notepad/my iPhone's Notes section/whatever I can get them down on in a hurry, so I'm going to share what I think could work.
