Default Next-Gen iPhone Graphics?

Not sure if this is right area to post this, so Mods, move it if you need to.

I found this article on Infinite Loop (part of Ars Technica) about an announcement from IDG (makers of graphics chips for iPhones) regarding Apple buying stock and licensing their tech. The article talks about 2 possible chips that could be used in conjunction with Apple & PA Semi's new ARM chips to improve performance. Sounds like Apple could be taking gaming very seriously on iPhone/iPod Touch indeed!

Any developers or clever tech guys got any thoughts on this? How would this new tech affect games being compatible with current systems? And how much better graphics could this produce?

Don't worry- you've posted in the right section. Looks like Apple is taking gaming seriously, agreed.

Does the chip enhance the graphics and speed, or just the graphics?
