App description: H.P. Lovecraft's KINGSPORT FESTIVAL: The Rituals of Mysteries is the long-awaited official port of the board game by Andrea Chiarvesio and Gianluca Santopietro inspired by the short story "The Festival", one of the milestones of the famous Cthulhu Mythos that made famous the Solitary of Providence, became popular as the Master of Weird.

In the unimaginable darkness of Kingsport, silent wanderers are called to a profane celebration. Their goal: to invoke unthinkable horrors! A dread terror that is not of this world or any other but rather from the spaces between the stars demands your submission.

PRESERVE YOUR SANITY: the power dulls the reason, unspeakable visions undermine the perception of reality: protect your mind from the dark recesses. Test your strategic and management skills.

Port of a boardgame release last year.

Boardgame geek reference.
Dice Tower overview video.

Looks pretty decent, I just hope the iPad port is good.

I didn't know how to make the die 'stick' in the X Elder slot so I asked here but have since figured it out, just tap the picture of that elder. Decent game for $3.99 (intro price) but, and I don't care but most of you do, no multiplayer. Dev has promised scenarios and festivals soon in a free update.

I love Kingsburg, so it was an easy choice to pick this up.

Edit: 204MB installed file size.

So, has anyone had any thoughts or reviews about this?

The review of ipad boardgames gives the advice to wait until the app is sorted out.

read that review and there are a couple more app videos plus that one i listed above for the actual board game. BUT, bear these in mind:

1. "Know this: the first time you play this game you are going to lose. This is less a statement about the caliber of the AI (which we would rate as “above average,” to the game’s credit) and more a statement to the fact that the interface of the app is fiddly, inconsistent, and not really explained"

this may be true for him but i beat the first game (however, dead last in the second ) and while some things aren't clear and possibly confusing at first, play a few games and you will get that rewarding experience of "ah ha! so that's how that works, cool!". my god, you gotta figure some things out for yourself you know!

2. it's a launch price so by the time things get "sorted out", it may cost $2-3 more.

i like it quite a bit and figuring out the nuances is part of the fun and challenge of learning something new. but then again, i like skinny redheads and mayonnaise sandwiches so your mileage may vary.
