I said it on Twitter and I'll say it on here too - this looks stunning. I want it, and I want it now.

    Looks great !

What are the controls like ? Relative touch ?

...as in a Cave's shmup? Interested, too.

After years of ios shooters i'm still (negatively) amazed how many developers still seem not to be aware (or ignore?) of the best control scheme for a touch screen. (Dual stick shooters are another story, of course)

Maybe the video was optimized for the looks, but could this be a vertical scrolling shmup played horizontelly? Hope not...

From the art style alone, this makes it a day-one purchase for me, no matter what prize. Good luck.

    Wow.

Thanks for the responses. I worked for ages on the control. The game was JUST a ship on a blank screen for weeks until it felt right. They're nothing new, they just feel right. Wasn't interested in going any further unless I could make it feel right.

Oh and it's a vertical shooter.

    Thanks again for the interest.

But please make the controls relative touch as thats essential for a shooter. If you look at other existing shooters (eg the Cave games) they all use relative touch.

Love the retro graphics, looking forward to this but please nail the controls !

    Well, than i'm a believer ;)

While we don't have that much shmups as i'd like, and my greedy fingers can't wait to grab it, i also rather wait half a year longer (or whatever), just to hold a satisfying and polished game in my hands at the end. Always.

What very roughly estimated date are you thinking of ?

Edit: no missunderstanding please, i love vertical but not played horizontally. For my likings, pretty much all of them failed. (Trying to think of one i liked...)

Well I hope to have a demo level complete by the end of the weekend and then after that we'll see where it goes. Depends on how fun it is after the weekend.
Hopefully no more than a 2 months until I'm done. (I make other games/apps too - Word Forward, Crobble, BaconBaconBacon, Mission: Pic, and loads more...)

Oh and I agree re horizontal shmups too. R-Type is the only one on iOS I really enjoyed. There's something a little irksome about having to turn your device to play too...

Will Blue Monday be the in-game track  ? Holy hell, what a lovely ride in the time machine this would be.

The ships behaviour remind me strongly of how Helix was controlled. Seems to work here perfect as well.

And seeing Mr. Sheep himself in your thread raises my hopes even more. I'm sooo looking forward and still, please, take your time.

    Thanks guys!

Yep thanks partly Sheepy's feedback it's now controlling somewhere between where it was and Helix.

    Absolutely lovely.

I'll post more when I have more. You've been great.
