App description: Chesslike takes the familiarity of chess and puts it into a fantastic new world of possibilities. This game is NOT chess. The rules have changed, and even a pawn can take up arms to become the new king. Dive into fun puzzle levels, or take some time and conquer an entire castle by assassinating the king. When you've had your fill, create your own levels to challenge your friends with the Level Editor at Chesslike.net.

Expansions will always be free updates.

This is an evolving game. Community input on Chesslike is greatly influential.

-Chess-based dungeon crawler/puzzles
-Pick up swords and shields to upgrade your piece.
-Keys, Locked Doors, Warp tiles, Maps.
-Pawns move and kill in four directions, but will only kill diagonally.
-Level Editor - play everyone's custom levels!
-Registering will save your progress and allow use of the Level Editor to create new puzzle levels

The more downloads we get, the more content we will create for the game. If you love playing and want more levels, get your friends to download the game, and help us reach our goals!

Looks polished and interesting enough that I'll bite.
I'll be back with impressions in a while.

Wow Internet connection required? Chess is supposed to be the one game that you can play anywhere. I honestly am not going to pay for a chess game the requires me to be online when I'm not facing a human opponent.

5000 downloads for offline play? That's such a goal they got there. No one is going to buy a game that forced you to play online with AI. I know I'm not going to buy this game because of that one reason. Was interested too

Well, the idea behind these "stretch goals" is that the developers add special or extra features when they see the game is popular.
However playing chess offline is surely not a special nor extra feature, but instead an essential one.
If it's not getting it I won't probably buy this.

Crap... I was so looking forward to this one, was about to press "purchase" until I saw "internet connection required"... No no and no, I'll wait until I can play off line

I'm sorely tempted, and I realize you cannot keep adding level content to a game if there is no money, but something as basic as offline option should be included and not held for "ransom" as was eloquently put. So I will wait a bit and find out what happens. The dev had me with No IAP no ADs but.....

I'd be playing exclusively on an iPad so internet required games are not great for me. If it were the earliest stretch goal, I could spring for it but I won't purchase this game for the potential that maybe I'll get to play it while off WiFi. Seems like a significant oversight.

I get the idea of stretch goals type things when it comes to new content. Better to know you're working on content for a game people want and if it's already a complete game, then I won't have an issue with using a stretch goal system for more content.

However, to repeat what everyone else is saying in my own words, the lack of offline play for a game like this files it under "incomplete" in my book, and it's kind of insulting that for them to COMPLETE the game, first they want 5000 downloads.

I think ransomware is a great term for this type of "strategy".

I was interested too until I saw that an internet connection is required. So, I will NOT be downloading this one. I'll stick with my offline actual chess game. Let us know if you want to rethink this online thing, developers!
