The Son of Anarchy Well-Known Member May 14, 2012 313 0 0 #8 The Son of Anarchy, Mar 11, 2015 Haven't played this in a looooong time... definately don't remember it being so gem and coin focused and an iap shop as long as my arm. Not getting a premium vibe whatsoever from this which is a mighty shame as the game is still so fun, even more so than I remember. I guess the 'Premium' iap effectively makes it just that, giving you double gem gains and ten coins a day. Problem is I already paid for this originally. Now with watching videos, Facebook and Twitter being pushed to 'earn more gems', it's kinda now got everything I don't like in my games. So I guess I'll just go back to forgetting about this cool game again. Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 2 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #9 Exact-Psience, Mar 11, 2015 Yeah, kinda sad it's turned freemium all out. Have you tried Orborun or Rollabear? They have some similar mechanics with Crazy Hedgy, but not really a free-roam platformer. Greyskull Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2009 5,588 1 38 Photographer/Social Sciences adjunct/sweet sweet l Fort Lauderdale #10 Greyskull, Mar 11, 2015 It was "semi-freemiumized" a while ago. Did they go all out? Damn shame to see ios classics ruined. ...and this is my problem with ios gaming. You never know what the game you bought will morph into. The Son of Anarchy Well-Known Member May 14, 2012 313 0 0 #11 The Son of Anarchy, Mar 11, 2015 Yeah it is kinda sad, but in the end they're just trying to make money in a tough market I guess. It's unfortunate a great game that probably deserved better got affected. Regarding your question, I've still got Orborun on my device but never played Rollabear, just watched a vid though and looks pretty cool. Jibba Well-Known Member Aug 18, 2009 2,886 0 0 #12 Jibba, Mar 11, 2015 This game came out in December 2011. Multiple people in this thread said they had forgotten about the game while at the same time saying its a shame that a classic is going premium. I don't think that's fair. The developers are simply smart enough to see reality. Those who bought the game in 2011, 2012 and 2013 were never going to play it again, and nobody is buying a 3+ year old game in 2015. Given that's it's a "classic," what's the problem with them making a few more bucks off the game? Greyskull Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2009 5,588 1 38 Photographer/Social Sciences adjunct/sweet sweet l Fort Lauderdale #13 Greyskull, Mar 11, 2015 I did, i was going to play it again since it used to take up too much space-the problem? I bought it full price. Please don't respong with a lecture regarding the price of coffee or a hamburger. 2011 is anything but ancient in game terms. Hell I just reinstalled Jagged Alliance 2. Whats that? No micropaments? MADNESS! trazer Well-Known Member Nov 14, 2013 141 0 0 #14 trazer, Mar 11, 2015 The proper solution is easy. They should leave the original game alone and release a new freeimum version. Easy solution to get new users and keep your existing fan base intact. Instead they took the crappy road and hosed the game for their existing customers. One way is a good and fine way of doing business and the other seems slimey and wrong and is a message to existing users that they don't care about you. Seems like a totally reasonable solution to me, heck even raise the price to say $6 or whatever so freemium users can later upgrade if they want. Then they've made money when they played the freemium version and then they make the cash from the full version. Too bad this route was not chosen. syntheticvoid Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2010 14,504 124 63 Musician & factory worker. a[V-O-I-D] http://apparentsymmetry.bandcamp.com #15 syntheticvoid, Mar 12, 2015 While I would have LOVED for the developer to do this... it's not really practical when your game isn't selling. Having to pay the subscription fee to keep your games in the AppStore, and not even knowing if a free version of your game would 'catch on'... you might as well just be saying 'hey dev, I bought your game years ago, and even though you aren't making money, the only way you should move forward is to spend more money without the promise of a return... it's the only way to keep me happy, and if you don't, I'll bash you for your bad business practices' While it may seem totally reasonable, there are many cases in which it's not. And while I do agree that it sucks to loose a great game like this to the freemium crowd, it's also kinda nice knowing that this INCREDIBLY TALENTED developer is still, at least, thinking about working with the AppStore and maybe releasing more games in the future. I'd much rather the developer take this route than just completely up and disappear entirely. ... that's just my whole take on it...
