Coming Soon - Connections Quest

Hello all, I am a game developer from NYC who is currently working on a new puzzle/casual game with some mechanics I was hoping you might be interested in! To put it simply, Connections Quest is something of a cross between Candy Crush Saga and Connect the Dots. You are helping the main character move across an island chain by completing connect-the-dot-related puzzles – with each series of plays providing you pieces which you must place in ever shrinking slots on the game board. Once all slots are filled, your score is tallied. If you have been smart and combined pieces of like combinations and kept an eye on making sure some pieces are only combined up to their face number (1 pieces should always be kept solitary from other 1s for instance) you will be able to score enough points to move on to the next level.

I’ll be posting more about this project, along with art and video samples in the coming weeks. We’re hoping to release it into the iOS store for tablet sized devices at the end of the summer. If you have any feedback or would like to assist in some pre-release testing please do feel free to let me know here or contact me via email. Thanks for your time!

How to Play

Curious how Connections Quest works? Take a look at the following pictures and we'll explain!

As you get started with each level, you'll only have a few open squares. The light gray/white ones. You get new blocks 4 at a time, and must place them in those squares. Each square also fits into a larger box, and you can only fill one square in a box each set of blocks.

As you continue adding blocks, you'll begin to fill up the available space. And blocks with a similar number will connect to one another, if adjacent. See how the 5s and 6s are connected in this picture.

As space becomes cramped, it will become hard to keep connections going. Not to mention you can accidentally make some connections too long! 1s, 2s, and 3s, have limited lengths. For instance, 1's can only form connections of 1 long. So on the top right you can see those two squares have become valueless for the user.

Eventually you will have placed enough blocks and you'll now have filled up the space, congrats! For every live connection you have, you'll either score points or multipliers to your points. This was a nearly perfect run by the user, you can see that one of the 2s got away from them though on the bottom right. Maxing out the length of 4/5/6 connections is important, but also getting as many 1/2/3 connections of the correct size is also important for multipliers!

Thank you for reading about Connections Quest!

Apple Submission - Done!

Hi all!

We just wanted to give a quick update to let you know that Connections Quest is now in for Apple approval/review. Hopefully this week! We'll be sure to throw out a video and some other goodies (as well a proper link in the actual games board) once it's approved.
