App description: This game is based on the famous eponymous movie.

A Trip Down Market Street is a 13-minute actuality film recorded by placing a movie camera on the front of a cable car as it travels down San Franciscos Market Street. A virtual time capsule from over 100 years ago, the film shows many details of daily life in a major American city, including the transportation, fashions and architecture of the era.

Basically, the game pauses the movie at certain moments, and asks a simple question about what is happening on the screen. That said, it is utterly impossible to remember all the variety of everyday scenes that unfold before you in a cohesive way! Will it be possible for you to gain access to your visual memory and to answer more than 60 questions correctly?

The film begins at 8th Street and continues eastward to the cable car turntable, at The Embarcadero, in front of the San Francisco Ferry Building.

It was produced by the four Miles brothers: Harry, Herbert, Earle and Joe. Harry J. Miles cranked the Bell & Howell camera during the filming. The film is notable for capturing San Francisco shortly before the citys devastating earthquake and fire, which started on the morning of Thursday, April 18, 1906.

This unique movie amazed me so much that I decided to make an equally unique game based on it. It fell into my mind to get as many people as possible into watching it and experiencing this magical feeling of time travel.

I decided to not include ads in the game, since it would have a negative impact on the atmosphere of the black-and-white silent movie. You can play one third of the game for free. Buying a ticket lets you thoroughly enjoy the trip to the famous Ferry Building. I would be very grateful for your support - it will allow me to improve this game and to make similar games in the future.

Finally Id like to recomend you a very interesting TV show about the film:

What an awesome idea for a game! I hope you make more like this using other oldtimey films & newsreels. Really fun & challenging. The music & type-style is perfect, too.

Gladly paid for the full fare ticket!

Thanks for putting this out in app form, I could watch footage like this all day long. Is there a way to watch the movie without the questions though? I know that's the point of the game, but I don't really care if the guy has a hat on or if it's black or white (maybe it's red, we'll never know...) I'd even PAY to remove them

After you've watched it once and answered all the questions, do you then get the option of an interruption free viewing? Please say yes.

It's absolutely impossible to control video playback on mobile devices programmatically, so I had to split the video in multiple files. So it won't be the best experience to wathc such a sliced video. But I uploaded Full HD video from the game (with sound and music) on Youtube
