Hi! My name is Steve and I just released a game called Treads! on the iOS App Store. It's a vertically scrolling tank shooter with a control scheme I haven't seen anywhere else yet (though I could be wrong!) If you've got a couple minutes to kill and want to check it out, you can get it via this link or by searching for "Treads" in the store =D Treads! I downloaded it and have been playing for about 30 minutes and I want to share a few things. I like the game. I like the art style. I like the monetization system you have in place. I'm appreciative you have provided a way to get rid of the ads and to double the supplies. I like the upgrade system for the tank. With that said I'm having some issues. First of all I finally understood how to use the controls but I'm having serious problems getting them to work cohesively in portrait mode. My thumbs constantly hit eachother and I'm spending more time trying to turn and then rotate the turret than I am shooting. I think it would work better in landscape for sure. Next I tried the no turning mode. I was able to control the turret better but when you shoot the soldiers not in front of you there is no way to pick up the repair or other boosts. Lastly would it be possible to put some sort of aiming reticle so I have an idea of where the round is going to go? I'm going to keep playing to see how far I can go hehe Billy Fobwashed Member Jul 29, 2015 9 0 0 #3 Fobwashed, Jul 30, 2015 Hi Billy, First off, thanks a ton for checking out my game and also for taking the time to write me some feedback! Lemme dive right into your issues~ =] The area that you can start your touch to aim the turret is actually the entire right side of the screen all the way up to the pause button. So you could perhaps start your turret aiming a bit higher on the screen on the right side to prevent your thumbs from touching each other. You also do not have to move very far from where you start your aiming touch so you may be able to reduce the amount of motion in your right thumb to prevent collision. Lemme know if either of those helps! I get where you're coming from here because of the issue you mentioned above but if the game were in landscape, the player would have much less time to react to any enemies appearing on-screen. Unfortunately, that vertical space is needed for this type of shooter =[ Yea... That's a tricky one. Ideally you could upgrade your supply magnet so that it pulls in supplies that appear out of the middle track you're moving on. I tried to figure out if there was a way to help out the player here but any help I gave the player in this mode would feel like it was taken away from the player in the other ones so I opted to do nothing. Maybe in a future update I could cause enemies to drop more supplies in that mode than the other modes to make up for it >,< When you touch the right side of the screen and pull down, an arrow should appear in front of the tank that shows which way the missile will travel from the tank. You can use that as a guide to help you aim! Thanks again for checking the game out =D Please let me know if you have any other issues or if what I'm suggesting doesn't work for you~ Steve NOEN Well-Known Member Jul 31, 2012 3,245 0 0 U.S. #4 NOEN, Jul 30, 2015 Last edited: Jul 31, 2015 This looks pretty cool. Downloading it now. UPDATE: Ok. So I gave this a go and I'm really liking it. It takes a minute to get used to the controls, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty cool. The coin drop rate is a little slow, but hey, devs gotta eat too! I'd love to see some different tanks to purchase in the shop, but all in all, this is a pretty fun endless runner style game. Worth checking out. Fobwashed Member Jul 29, 2015 9 0 0 #5 Fobwashed, Jul 31, 2015 Hey! Thanks a lot for checking it out and also for the feedback! I would love to add some more tanks, weapon types, and enemies and I totally plan to if the game does okay. Unfortunately, it's not doin that hot so for now, I'm moving onto my next project. If it does every pick up some steam though, I'd definitely love to go back! Thanks again and I'm glad you enjoyed it =] (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
