Feedback on app icon please

Hi all,

I'd love some feedback on an app icon for my first game.
What do you guys think of it? Can you guess what the icon represents?

It looks like a dragons eye to me. Personally I think it has good simplicity for an app icon.

I like it. I agree it looks kind of like an eye. Is it a puzzle game, the geometric look makes me think that.

That, and I'd add that, as the eye looks like a gem, it could be a fantasy-themed match3-like.

Thanks guys,

The icon is supposed to represent a character in the game. He has a large golden eye. He is one of the bad guys in the game. It's a simple space game that we will be releasing in 2 weeks!

Do you think you would click on the app on first glance? Does it look polished?

thanks for the feedback!

That's what I thought too. Bejewelled with monsters.

The icon is quite appealing, but perhaps miscommunicates what your game is about.

I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan. I didn't get that it was an eye, there are a lot of little details and noise around the edges that may not translate well to a small screen. Is there some kind of face or more iconic symbol from the game that could be used?

Icon design is very difficult, so best of luck - and at the end of the day you need to choose what you are happy with!

Keep in mind its going to look tiny in the store, so you're going to lose details. The crystals and the cracks will be hard to make out.

thank you

Hi guys,

thanks for the good feedback. I'll take it all on-board! We experimented with using different characters for the icon but felt that this one was the strongest. We want it to appeal to both sexes. I'm gonna make a few small changes to the app icon this afternoon.

Looks like a diamond to me, and a dragon's eye ball!
Personally, I think your icon is bad-ass!
