Look at your icon on the left column where its your forum avatar. In that size the details in the icon are too small to see. Yet on a device your icon will show even smaller than that. Try an icon that is ONLY the fox face.

I read a Gamasutra article recently that had five tips for creating a stand out Game icon. If you are not already reading Gamasutra I recommend you check the site regularly for invaluable knowledge about Game Development.

As markofjohnson said, you need to remember that your icon is going to be physically very small on device, even though the actual resolution of the icon for itunes is quite large. Avoid fine details (even most shading is lost).

Looks good, although I think the sun should be more solid and brighter

Interesting.. I recall many iOS users got irritated when OpenFeint had their "greenleaf" icon on the corners like Zynga here too, saying it practically "swallows up" the icon itself.

If you have a series of app titles, consider tying their respective icons together with a single element. This will help instill a brand consistency that will lend to loyal and returning users.

Zynga stamps their app icons with their iconic dog silhouette. This allows users to quickly identify new Zynga titles simply at a glance. Whether you decide to use a consistent background or brand logo across your icons, find one ingredient that will get users to instantly recognize and credit you to the app.
