Steelbound Sky Witherwood Studios Genres: Games Arcade Action $1.99 USD "Playing this game was a like seeing what would happen if Fruit Ninja and Gradius had a baby."-2P.com UPDATE VERSION 2.0 NOW RELEASED! Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel FULL LIST OF UPDATE INFORMATION: http://www.steelboundsky.com/#!version-info/ruydx --- OVERVIEW --- Rather than trying to retro fit analog controls unto a screen, Steelbound Sky uses it's devices to it's strength. Traditional SHMUP Games require precision, timing, memorization, patience and determination; Physical controls allowed that to be possible. This game brings back those challenges but on touch devices. It's a unique experience that is fun, addictive, retro while modern and ultimately a breath of fresh air to the tried and tested Shoot'em up genre. NO IN APP PURCHASES! If you love those arcade shooters, but have wanted some different gameplay for the genre, then look no further than Steelbound Sky." -AppAdvice "It's a great mechanic and it provides immediate, exciting and tense experience with tons of last seconds moments where you are the brink of death but you still make it out alive. It's really cool and gives you a great feeling of accomplishment every time you beat a level." -GamingReviews "It takes the multitasking in a game like this to a whole new level but one that I never found overly frustrating." -Tyler Burton Reviews "I really like the idea of a bullet hell shooter that's more defensive in nature. And hey, it's a buck 99 I've paid more for less. If you got 2 dollars to kill and a masochistic b**** for progress halting difficulty, hey, give it a shot." -TAB REVIEWS Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Supported Devices: iPhone-3GS iPhone4 iPodTouchFourthGen iPad2Wifi iPad23G iPhone4S iPadThirdGen iPadThirdGen4G iPhone5 iPodTouchFifthGen iPadFourthGen iPadFourthGen4G iPadMini iPadMini4G iPhone5c iPhone5s iPhone6 iPhone6Plus iPodTouchSixthGen iPad Pro Minimum iOS Version: iOS 6.0 Download Size: 133MB Steelbound Sky ----- Overview -----Steelbound Sky is a game which combines the intricacy of traditional shoot 'em ups with a … $1.99 Buy Now Watch Media Details----- Overview -----Steelbound Sky is a game which combines the intricacy of traditional shoot 'em ups with a contemporary control scheme. Lol. This game does look unique. Are there relative touch controls (for movement in addition to the wind manipulation)? Edit: Opps.. I should post that at midnight. imdakine1 Well-Known Member Aug 23, 2011 1,229 22 38 #10 imdakine1, Mar 2, 2016 Interesting game. The tutorial provides a good overview of the game and teaches you the importance of the single swipe control. Learning to do short and quick swipes to control the wind and defeat enemies was surprisingly addicting. If say the controls are easily an 8/10 as sometimes when trying to do so many quick swipes I ended up not getting to create my desired wind defense or attack depending on how you view the action. The sound and music are spot on for the game as well as it reminds me of old school arcade upbeat music with a bit of techno to keep things pumped up action. I haven't gotten far enough to know what variety the games gas fit backgrounds of towns to defend but so far so good! Congrats to the developers with this launch! witherwood Well-Known Member Feb 29, 2016 50 0 0 #11 witherwood, Mar 2, 2016 The game should be optimized to run on 3GS. Different devices will have a different rendered resolutions. Of course, the game works best when running on the latest hardware. I was surprised to see how fast the 6 series were able to run and load my levels. It was almost instant compared to my iPad4. witherwood Well-Known Member Feb 29, 2016 50 0 0 #12 witherwood, Mar 2, 2016 Thankyou! I also think it's a concept I have not seen in other shmups before. What do you mean by Relative Touch controls? The town will scroll automatically like in other shmups. There are other elements of nature that you can create such as tornadoes and lightning which will be integral later on. Also, you (and we) know who got one and some feedback can be awaited. I won't google for Eastern time, so... How long about to complete one level? And have you any plans to put more out? Good luck! anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,031 614 113 #14 anthony78, Mar 2, 2016 For my 12:00, divisible by 4 question: Does this have iCloud support? witherwood Well-Known Member Feb 29, 2016 50 0 0 #15 witherwood, Mar 2, 2016 It all depends on your skill. During testing, I've found players can spend up to half an hour trying to defeat even the first 2 levels. The game really is a throwback to old school shmups and requires you to master the main skill and memories enemy positions and patterns. So it is a lot of trial and error. I'd love to place out more levels in an update or something along those lines, but as of right now I have no concrete plans. witherwood Well-Known Member Feb 29, 2016 50 0 0 #16 witherwood, Mar 3, 2016 Not atm. Perhaps in a future update? Kind of like if Lost Winds had a shoot em up baby... Will def give this a try when I can pick up an iTunes card. witherwood Well-Known Member Feb 29, 2016 50 0 0 #19 witherwood, Mar 3, 2016 Im glad you enjoyed the mechanic! It does get hard... but that is the fun part of shmups and bullet hells. Its meant to be challenging. No easy achievements for you. witherwood Well-Known Member Feb 29, 2016 50 0 0 #20 witherwood, Mar 3, 2016 Wow! I did not even know about Lost Winds! But I just saw some gameplay and you are right, that wind breeze is very similar to ours. Pretty cool. Thankyou for giving this game a chance!
