App description: Walpurgis Night is a bullet hell dodge 'em up in a fireworks display. Survive for as long as possible avoiding bullets and collecting spent fireworks for time bonuses. Difficulty ranges from mild to extra spicy and earning stars will unlock additional levels.

Hello everybody, this is a game I've been tinkering with on and off for a long time initially created for Ludum Dare but reworked with a lot more content for mobile. It's pretty niche, but I hope it finds a home somewhere.

Grabbed EX7F43XAL7NA. Will scat about it soon.

EDIT: Yeah, I can already tell this is ver' cool. You play a girl on an airbound broomstick (I like to imagine her as Kiki from the Miyazaki film) suddenly caught in the middle of a fireworks display (serves her right for flying on Walpurgis Night- every witch worth their weight in newt eyes knows to use their broomsticks strictly for sweeping on that night), which, like any good display, gets increasingly more hectic until you truly do find yourself in a bullet hell scenario. The graphics aren't amazing- fireworks look best all vectored up, I reckon- but the gameplay is very fun, with various difficulties (starting with "Tricky"...there are no easy modes here). Haven't played long enough to see how much variety there is on offer, as this is more of a high-score chaser than a level-based game, but I reckon it's worth getting so far. Trying to catch a string of burnt-out fireworks whilst strafing around the blooming light-flowers of active ones going off around you is difficult and fun.

EDIT 2: Protip: Catching a burnt firework clears a small circle around you. Can get you out of a scrape or two if you time it right.

EDIT 3: Wait, there is no broomstick. I guess I'll imagine my finger is the broomstick. By the way, as you try to three-star the more manic difficulty levels this game actually gets surprisingly strategic. Glad I happened to click on this thread haha.

Thanks for XTFL36YM9EPM.

I agree, i game on, but i may complete sinagog's post a bit...

Relative touch controls are spot on. A nice chippy soundtrack, though only one for all levels (hard mode has the same at least, but no biggie)?
Great and good seen bullet patterns which make the risk-reward combo score interesting...but without any GC leaderboards it's not really worth anything, unfortunately. And a big must-have should be a good seen hit-box on our little witch. There is none, but i assume it's the head, which disappears or melts with the dark background, which leads to cheap deaths by design. This needs an urgent overhaul, imho.

Installed MB 57

My 2016 GOTY contenders...
Lost in Harmony, Lost Socks, NO THING, Loop Mania, Bullet Hell Monday, Dan the Man, RunGunJumpGun

I'd say the main thing to get out of the combos is a faster route to three-stars before the bullet patterns get to Mensa levels. The relative controls are indeed really good. As to the hit-box, I play it as if it's literally the spot where I'm touching the screen (rather than the drawing of the little witch) and it puts me in pretty good stead. You're right, though, it could do with the hit-box maybe turning red or something for those who aren't playing it direct touch. It seems pretty small as you can dance through some seriously tight gaps without dying. This dev has clearly played a bullet hell game or three. Could do with a few touches here and there, fo' sho', but I'm enjoying trying to survive long enough to get those three stars on the harder modes.

Okay, so I've tried it for 10 minutes, and it's really amazing! If you're into bullet-hell shooters, I think you'll love this "endless bullet-hell survival" game. There are unlockable levels according to the amount of stars you can achieve, and it's really addictive to try and survive more and more every time. The game also performs great on my 4S, so low-end devices (i.e.: old grandphones... ) are acceptable too!

The only "but" I can think of is the theme. Why are so many bullet-hell shooter themes inspired in Mary Poppin-ish characters? I want Macross/Robotech fighter valkiries here!

Usually in arcade shmups the convention is your focus/laser mode reveals it, if they show it at all, but here there's only the one method of movement so I decided to make it flash up rather than stay...
I noticed that spark quickly, but i wasn't sure what it is for or does. The hit-box is indeed very small, that's why i thought it must be the head. Whatever...for my playstyle and for better results, please, make an option to see it constantly...and very shiny clear.

The bullet patterns getting better and better and ouch, challenging difficult. You surely played some bullet hell shmups.

Oh, and why not lol. I want some of those Macross/Robotech fighter valkiries, too.

Thirded on more mech fighters, please! . Some new skins to unlock would actually be cool. My surveys say that people love unlockables (I have no surveys, but I'm sure they'd say that if I did). By the way, an option to disable sound effects as well as music would be awesome for those, like me, who do a lot of their game playing while listening to podcasts!

Heh, well I'm not too confident about my art (title screen was by a friend of mine) on the skins front. For SFX's I'll see what I can do.

A definite on the hit box showing all time.
