You might very well be right here, they'll certainly need to do something at some point because it's already getting unmanageable.

Having said that, I wish I'd had a single review on iTunes (no stars at all for me at present). It seems I can't buy purchasers at the moment, even if I wanted to

Aww, that's just sad. I'm sick of puzzlers, but I'll buy yer game and review it just cuz. I'll probably even play it since I can listen to my own tunes.

haha, many thanks. I can understand the point about puzzlers - I'm seeing very little variety on puzzlers in the app store at present (apart from a few stand-out ones). I'm hoping that will change over time and some really interesting, and different, ideas will see the light of day.

I think the biggest problem is that all your app gets is a name and an icon in the app store list. You don't even get a one liner. Even if you did have something unique and original, how would anyone know unless they they thought you had an interesting name/icon and clicked on you?

In the case of our game ScribBall, we think we have something unique with the real time physics added to a genre that is otherwise about turn based gem matching. We've never gotten a bad review of our gameplay, everybody really seems to like that. I think the issue is that we picked an odd name and an icon that probably makes us look like any other game. Without even a one liner to sell ourself with, how is anyone going to notice that we even exist?

First thing Apple needs to do is tell developers what guidelines they have. Because AFAICT they have none! They do things in a completely ad-hoc way.

Yes they do, there's a document (actually it might be part of the itunes connect docs) that explains how frequently updates should happen for different types of circumstances.

You're going to have to be more specific. As neither of the two contracts, which are the only ones that really matter, nor the various guides I've downloaded have any such info. Perhaps it's some new document? Which is another aspect of Apple that is really aggravating, they don't bother to tell one when and if they change documentation.

Sure, I've just looked it up for you. Log into the iPhone Dev Center and click the 'Program Portal' button. Then click 'Distribution' on the left menu and select 'App Store' from the tabs. Click the first 'Learn More' link and you'll see under point 2 a sentence with a link in it that says:

'Please review these recommended guidelines before submitting updates to your application being distributed through the App Store.'

The link is to GuidelinesForAppUpdates.pdf which explains the guidelines for submitting application updates.

Thanks moopf... And yeah, they updated various docs since I checked end of last month. But I must say those update guidelines are useless. But I guess they have to address all the newbee developers out there.

Now if they would publish the acceptance policies. It would save everyone lots of time.

You'll get no argument from me on that! None at all The whole process has felt like one black box after another.
