Today we've released Tap the Blocks globally. And we would appreciate any feedback about the game. Thank you!

Based on the screenshots, it looks like a reskin of an old game called (I think) Avalanche. I'll give it a try.

I played a bit, and enjoyed it to some degree, but deleted it. Mainly because it's in landscape mode and the blocks are tiny. I'm not sure why the actual play area takes up such a small part of the screen. Was this not meant to be played on an iPhone?

I played the tutorial and one game, on an iPad. I like the game itself. The graphics are polished, and the aesthetic is nice.

After my first game ended, I hit continue and a 30 second video ad loaded.

When it ended it went to a white screen. I couldn't get back into the game. So I had to exit it, close it down by swiping it out of the running apps, and relaunch it. The initial load time is a bit long, so I quit out again and came here to post impressions.

Without a way to get rid of the ads, I can't really see coming back to it often.

It could also use a block scramble power up, or a color bomb like Avalanche had, to avoid a run of several mismatched blocks that tumble over the edge and wipe out your lives.

AppUnwrapper, thanks. This is a universal app for iPhone and iPad. We actually did try a portrate mode during the development, but there is no real difference. The column height is 10 blocks and the field is 12 columns wide. So when turning to portrate it was the same at best. As for the empty space on the sides. We didn't manage to make a scene selection based on the device type right, yet. So the same scene is on iPad and it has 4:3 screen. Also we are planing to add power ups later. There is a place for them on the right. And for a good shaman as well. We are still working on a scene selection for iPhones and hopefully it'll be in some of the updates.

Collin, great feedback. You may skip the ads at all. At the end of the round there is a dialog that offers you as a player 5 more lives for watching an add. It has two buttons Continue and Cancel. Just hit the left one. And you won't see an add. Also our game doesn't require internet connection, so the player may play offline and there shouldn't be ads (some precached may be offered, but usually don't).

We are planning the power ups in one of the future updates. We will check out the Avalanche game as well.

As for the white screen bug. I did experienced it myself yesterday. We did't catch it before the release. I assume that it's somehow related to the app going live as it's related to Unity Ads. We are investigating this issue. Thank you.

I think you misunderstood me. I wasn't saying that putting it in portrait mode is what would make the blocks bigger. The two issues are separate and both reasons I didn't stick with it long. I play my match-3 games on my iPhone, and right now it's just not an optimal experience on there for both those reasons. Using more screen space for the play area was just something that seemed like the most logical thing to fix first. Right now, the top part of the screen houses information that could have gone off to the right instead (or top/bottom if you enable portrait mode).

AppUnwrapper, thanks for the clarification. We have the place on the right reserved for the power ups. The problem there is that we use the same scene for iPad and iPhone. iPad isn't as wide as iPhone, so on the phone it looks like there is a lot of space. I totally agree that on the phone the blocks aren't big enough. We do test different layouts and hopefully will find a good solution. We've submitted un update to Apple in which the blocks will be 5% bigger. It's not that much, but still better. Thank you!

I look forward to seeing what power ups you add, and will keep an eye out for updates.

I did enjoy the gameplay, look and sound of your game. Avalanche is a pretty old game at this point, and I can't recall seeing any other games follow that style of play.

One improvement you have is your game doesn't just end when the blocks reach the right side, thanks to the life system.

One negative, that may be fixed with power ups, is if you have a tall stack of mixed blocks on the right, and a short stack next to it on the left that you also can't clear, unless you're lucky that tall stack will get pushed over the edge and your lives will drop like a rock.

Since ads are so optional, please consider a remove ads iap that would allow the player to kick some cash your way as support, while still allowing the opt-in ad watching to get extra lives. You might also consider allowing the player to watch an ad or two before their game starts to build up some lives in advance, so the flow of the game isn't interrupted so early.

I've played two more times, and both times I've lost near the end of round 4. I think I need to adjust my strategy. How far can you guys make it?

(Edit) just played again and made it almond set to the end of round 6 with a score of 7768. Right as the round ended, two blocks fell over and I only had one life left. Drats. Do you get lives back between rounds?

Collin, thanks for another feedback. We are definitely planning to have an ads disabling iap.
My record is round 13 and a score of 39818. And I've been playing for months to reach that If you use Game Center in the leaderboards you may see that there are people who have reached level 22! and the score record is over 77000. I didn't expect that this will happen that fast. Probably that's some F1 pilot Our team member record is round 15 and the score of 44000.
