App description: The Quest is a beautifully hand-drawn open world role playing game with old school grid-based movement and turn based combat.

In the kingdom of Monares trouble is brewing. The governor of Freymore is missing and the island is in tumult. The mages all prophesy a dark shadow looming over the safety of the kingdom. As an Agent of the king, it's your job to find out what is happening and avert any danger.

Choose from five customizable races and an array of skills, weapons, armor and enchantments, and explore a huge world of four cities and a wilderness of mountains, caves, lakes and forests full of mystery, magic and intriguing challenges. Meet the many inhabitants, each with its own agenda and attitude towards your character. Some will be helpful, some greedy or lascivious or just plain mean. You will have many choices, including some that may place you against the law, along your way to the dramatic ending of your own choosing.

Key Features:

- Pursue a long and dramatic main story and solve many optional side quests.
- Create a highly customizable character and cast dazzling spells, enchant powerful items, concoct potent potions and persuade people to further your goals.
- Discover an open world with interesting locales, day/night cycle, weather, fascinating people, dangerous creatures, readable books, pick-able locks, repairable items, houses that can be broken into, dungeons, traps and much more.
- Play an absorbing card game with three different decks, accessible at the inns.

All the fantastic gameplay of The Quest with HD graphics, it truly is glorious!

I can't recommend this one enough for iPad owning RPG fans.

I have the original iPhone version as well as the new Steam version (which is what the iPad version is based on).
I was involved in the beta testing as well.
I can assure any one who loves this style of game that they will not be disappointed with this version.
This is an old school turn based dungeon/open world crawler like the old Might and Magic series before Mandate of Heaven.
The game plays flawless on new iPads and even from my own testing it plays okay on an iPad 2!
The graphics are now incredible. Also the game can be saved at any time, which I think always deserves an extra star in a games rating. You can also make notations on your map now. And the game has had a lot of updates during its life and balance issues have been sorted out. Bugs....well I found none at all during my beta testing.
And just to reiterate ...the game looks incredible.
A couple of negatives though.
The quest logging is not all that great, and does not always update itself when a quest progresses. I found taking screenshots of npc conversations helps.
Also the interface could do with a bit of tweaking. It is a bit clumsy when trying to cast spells for instance. But it becomes second nature after some time.
This game is total premium with no iap's. Don't be put off by the high inital cost compared to other games on the App Store. You get a lot of game for your money and if you like this style of game, you wont be disappointed.
This game gets a 5 star from me.

One of the very best games ever on iOS, and the iPad UI looks fantastic. I hope a whole new generation of iOS gamers discover this masterpiece.

It's too late.

How immersive storywise the game is? Or is it more focused on combat?

The game has a very well developed main storyline. I find it very easy to get immersed in the whole world and the character I play as.
The side quests are not just fetch 'em type quests but actually add to the main story. Some quests have multiple options which affect the outcome.

Character creation is quite involved and you can easily create a genuine unique character. Character portraits though are very limited and I think, uninspiring.
However, just like in the Steam version, it is relatively easy to add custom portraits to the games folder, in this case via iTunes.
Instructions are on The Quest forums.

The combat in my opinion is well balanced and provides enough strategy and challenge to make it more than just a click fest, something that can happen quite often in other similar games.

There is a lite (free) version available for iPhone and iPad, though it uses the old graphics and is in a x2 screen on the iPad, but it will give you an idea of what the game is like and I suggest you try it first before forking out your money. Though keep in mind that this new version is a 100% improvement graphically on an iPad, and looks exactly as good as the Steam version.

Congratulations, guys!I hope that this release will provide you with more fans and fill catacomber website with more newbies who have yet to experience fortress of glass/Argimon's dungeon/Nodens temple/Mad dwarve' castle devious puzzles :-)

Unfortunately,I cannot buy this gem cause I'm on iOS 8 but I am buying all the expansions for the iPhone version and I sincerely hope that the future expansions for it won't be iOS 9 only
