I played the first Axe and Fate. It was a long time ago. I planned to compare this new game to the first one, but could not find it listed on
the App Store any longer. I do remember that the characters moved very slow and that the game did not gel with me. I remember going back
a few times to give it another go , only to lose interest in it pretty quick.

I decided to buy Axe and Fate 2 to support the developers. I felt the first game had good potential. I wanted to see if this one was better than
first game.

The answer is yes. The movement is faster. Holding your finger on the left side on the screen will move your character. If you slide your finger
higher , the character moves faster.

Combat is turn based. You can attack and then retreat as long as you have enough PT. Let's just say you have 7 PT at the start of your turn.
You can move a certain distance with the 7 PT. If your weapon uses 2pt per attack, you can attack three times or choose to hit once and retreat
as far as the remaining 5 Pt will allow you to. I found the hit and run tactic worked well against a large group of skeletons. I would hit one skeleton
and then move back. When the skeletons moved towards me, they usually could not attack as they had used up too much of their PT to act
any further.

Some enemies attack with arrows or fire, so I would usually hide near a door and have them come to me. Archers cannot attack if they are too
close to their target. As they usually fired off an arrow and then retreated, I found it best to engage them with a weapon like a spear which had
a longer reach. Spears, swords, axes, and hammers will have different ranges, strengths and PT usages. Half the fun is deciding what weapon
will work best to complement your style of fighting or the enemies.

There are lots of weapons, armour and potions to find in chests. You can even search bodies as well. You only have an inventory of 54 slots,
so you will need to keep that in mind. Currently I am playing a Knight. Knights can use the above mentioned weapons, but cannot use magic
or bows.

The graphics in the game is quite nice. The dungeons have light and shadowed areas. Bridges span areas and if you fall , the level is designed
to lead you back up to the top level once again. The character designs are hit and miss though. The flying skull enemies look good , but the
skeletons with shields look rather flat. They should really have some texture on them to break up the blue bone colour. They could also have
a nice design on the shield. Currently the shield is blank.

The sound effects need some work as well. The hero walking sounds is okay, but the skeletons need a better bone clacking sound when they
walk. Certain other sound when hitting buttons could have been done better I feel. These are not game breaking things , but they would
certainly add to the atmosphere of the game play.

All in all, I am enjoying this way more than I thought I would. Once I get another character in my party, the game should become even more
fun and interesting.

The other big bonus is that you can save anywhere. If you die, just reload and try another tactic.

Thanks

So far, yes.

I played Axe and Fate when it came out a few years ago; it was an interesting take on turn-based WRPGs that was hampered by very clunky execution. The sequel (and mind you, I've played only through the first two tutorials) takes out about 85% of the clunkyness while improving the graphics and interface. It's not for everyone, but folks who dig first person dungeon crawlers may want to check it out. Unlike games like LoG, A&F is not grid based, so it feels more like Elder Scrolls but with clever turn-based mechanics.

This is clearly a labor of love. Though not perfect by any means, it's definitely enjoyable, and I'm happy to support the dev.

Looks interesting.
Question for you folks who played it already: does it have an automap? I don't see one on the HUD in the screenshots.
