Current version doesn't support iCloud functionality but may be a new features in future releases. In this case, because checkpoints are not permanent and they only last for the next game it wouldn't be really useful but unlocked balls for instance would definitely benefit from it. ob1cat Well-Known Member Sep 13, 2013 81 0 6 Male http://riftergames.com #4 ob1cat, Nov 23, 2016 Last edited: Nov 23, 2016 Gameplay video One Eye King Member Nov 20, 2016 15 0 1 Male http://www.greensnowgames.com #5 One Eye King, Nov 24, 2016 Very nice! Cool idea with fasttime arrow! Why dont you put your character (is it a robot?) on the game icon? ob1cat Well-Known Member Sep 13, 2013 81 0 6 Male http://riftergames.com #6 ob1cat, Nov 24, 2016 Hey, thanks for playing! I'm not sure what to do with the icon. I ran a Twitter poll to choose an icon between the following options: Number 4 won with 32% of the votes (results here https://twitter.com/RifterGames/status/795295437582434304) My concern is that the demographics of the voters were very specific (mostly males between 12 - 18 years old). One More Brick has a much broader audience and I believe results may be different if female or older people voted. I'm planning to run A/B test on the icon (it's possible on Google Play) but I don't have enough daily downloads to make it statistically significant yet. I personally agree that the robot (yes, it's a robot ) may be a better icon even doesn't explicitely show what the game is about. Choosing a title and designing an icon are probably the hardest decisions when making a game, they are critical but so hard to evaluate without actually testing them. Though, I can also see the benefit of more colors and the descriptiveness from 4. vectorarchitekt Well-Known Member Dec 29, 2013 2,479 169 63 #8 vectorarchitekt, Nov 25, 2016 Definitely #2 One Eye King Member Nov 20, 2016 15 0 1 Male http://www.greensnowgames.com #9 One Eye King, Nov 25, 2016 #2 it is more creative! ob1cat Well-Known Member Sep 13, 2013 81 0 6 Male http://riftergames.com #10 ob1cat, Nov 25, 2016 Hey, thanks for the feedback. I'm also pretty sure about dropping the border/frame but where I can't make my mind is between originality vs color+descriptiveness. By the way, your username sounds familiar, did you comment on the Reddit post? Kind of like bringing a machine gun to a knife fight. It is so satisfying to unleash 130 balls on some unsuspecting bricks. Question: How do I unlock the different kinds of balls? TheGodless Well-Known Member Jan 15, 2013 207 2 18 #13 TheGodless, Nov 26, 2016 I've been hooked on BBTAN, Tank Blast, Infinite Brick Blast, and the other various knockoffs for a while and I love One More Brick just as much or a little more than all of the others. I keep waiting for a bigger dev to steal and improve upon this new and, in my opinion, much more addictive style of brick breaking. I don't know that your game differentiates itself enough from BBTAN and the others to really stand out though. The few differences matter to me, but I'm probably not the normal gamer, as I have played just about every iOS game that is like One More Brick. I appreciate the speed up button, but the button should always be present because when you reach 100 or so balls and are taking out a few 100 ball bricks, it becomes tedious waiting for what you already know is going to happen. If a dev can add some sort of story over such a game, add ways to level up, and improve the graphics, it might make it have wider appeal. One of the things I have always wanted was some sort of ability to instantly take out an entire line because once you get to 200 or so balls, it starts to get almost impossible to take out multiple lines of 200+ blocks. I think it would also be great for the aiming to be able to be inverted. It feels a little odd as it is and might feel more comfortable just to be able to tap the character and then slide back and forth to aim and let off to shoot. Lastly, while the balls are doing their thing, I think it would be fun and more interactive if there was a way to turn the game into more of a traditional brick breaker. Maybe there could be a specific icon that can be aimed for or after a good shot is made, the character changes for 10 seconds and is able to hit the balls back, much like when the blue line power up is in affect and ball hits the ground and bounces back, except more interactive and requiring the player to pay attention and show some skills. If the character could be made a little smaller and a few bricks could be added to show the balls hitting them, it would not make the icon look as generic as the current bricks and balls icon and would help get the point across about what type of game it is. ob1cat Well-Known Member Sep 13, 2013 81 0 6 Male http://riftergames.com #15 ob1cat, Nov 26, 2016 Mmm... that's not good, if you haven't found where to unlock the balls easily means the UI is not good enough, I'll make some changes and create a call to action. You can currenlty access the Shop from 2 places. Either from the Results screen (bottom right button) or from the Balls screen (top right button). ob1cat Well-Known Member Sep 13, 2013 81 0 6 Male http://riftergames.com #16 ob1cat, Nov 26, 2016 Last edited: Nov 26, 2016 Wow! long post, I'll try to answer all your points. I take the first part as a compliment. This was exactly the objective of making this game, to take a brilliant mechanic and make a better game than the ones that already used it (which are great, don't get me wrong). Details matter and there are a lot of differences but I'd rather not to talk too much about other games because it would be inevitable to compare and I respect a lot both devs. Regarding the speed button I understand your point but having it always there would transform the relaxing pace of the game where you don't need to touch the screen unless in specific situations. There is though a faster ball that may be perfect for expert users like you . Big dev taking on the idea... I tried a game that had a bigger budget and I've been looking for it now for 10 minutes and can't find it but basically it was level based, had powerups to use in game, improvements, experience points, etc... and you shoot soldiers instead of balls with the same game mechanics. I played it for 20 minutes and uninstalled; they broke the beauty of its simplicity. The aiming, I agree, I'm planning to add a setting option to invert it. I'm not sure about your last idea of creating a minigame. It is indeed a great idea for a skill/hardcore type of gamer but not for the casual guy/girl playing one handed on a crowded bus/tube or while watching tv. Not needing to pay much attention is one of the best things of this game . Thanks a lot for the feedback, if you have any other ideas or comments please let me know or feel free to mail me directly to [email protected].
