This seems pretty good so far (have played the first 10 levels or so).

No energy system I've encountered yet. You can replay/fail a level as much as you want. There are timers on your "helpers", which can give you a boost in a surgery.

Every completed surgery awards gold, which you can use to buy card packs a la Clash Royale. These are used to upgrade your tools (5% extra speed/efficiency/etc). I earned enough gold every ~2 surgeries to buy a pack.

Will have to see if things change on later levels.

Gameplay is fun. Was pleasantly surprised there were no timers, other than the optional surgeon helpers. BUT. I was wrong. After you progress a handful of levels, you reach one that WON'T let you progress until one of your helpers is out of cooldown. Even if you want to attempt it without them - your only option is to spend gems or to wait several HOURS for them to become available. Same for all the special modes for repeating a level, and the special missions you can rank on leaderboards for. You must have a helper to even attempt the level. Very frustrating, ruins an otherwise great game.

The boss levels seem to require an assistant, which is locked behind an energy style timer. The levels between bosses dont require an assistant though.

I'll play this for a while as it seems a competent enough clone of trauma centre. Ive got no idea what gameplay value the unlockable cards add to the game, but I doubt that system is there for our gameplay pleasure anyway.

Ran into the timers shortly after my last post...

I was able to do a 5x pull with free gems, and I now have 7 assistants. They have cooldowns from 2-12 hours, and are required for bosses/special levels. There are 6 bosses in the first 35 levels, so it's not super terrible. Each level also has a sudden death/partner special that requires any partner (sudden death) or a specific partner (special), but they aren't required for progression.

One issue that I want to bring up. I still have Amateur Surgeon 3 installed, and you can no longer buy coins as the game crashes. What if you are in the middle of the game? It's been removed from App Store but it appears in previous purchases.

It's just not professional.

How old is surgeon 3? Ios updates tend to break games, especially when the ios version updates. Perhaps they removed the game from the store because they knew the game was broken

Amateur Surgeon 3 came out in August of 2013, 2 came out in November of 2010, and the first one came out all the way back in December of 2008. From what I've been told by Adult Swim, they didn't have the means to keep the previous games updated for newer hardware and software versions, and Amateur Surgeon 4 contains so much of the content from the previous games it made the older games redundant. It's sort of like an Amateur Surgeon Remastered.

It still sucks when games get pulled though

Glad to read that this one is a compilation.

Interestingly enough, I just installed Amateur Surgeon 3 on the iPhone 6+ rather than the Air 1, and you are able to purchase both the coins and the blood packs.

In any case both games are winners and iCloud works as long as you use Facebook.
