Tried for a few minutes and loved the introduction.

Gonna play only after the game is complete, though.

I haven't seen the series and have read only one Phryne Fisher book, but this VN still turned out to be a pretty satisfying experience, IMO. The music, character designs, etc. capture the historical era (and presumably the TV series) well. The VN took me about 2-3 hours to finish. I didn't come across branching paths--you're sometimes required to exhaust all dialogue options before you're able to proceed, and even when some conversation topics are optional, you can still try them out for fun. The investigation scenes are simply a matter of looking at everything in sight to uncover new clues and (optional) pieces of garments that will eventually unlock new clothes for Phryne. There are also 'deduction' sequences, but there are no negative outcomes for mixing and matching incompatible clues when you want to unlock a new line of inquiry (and even near the 'whodunnit' climax, it doesn't seem you can prematurely end the game by accusing the wrong person or by matching the 'wrong' clues). I'm still looking forward to Episode 2, though This VN seems to be more about the reading experience--being immersed in the storyline and characters for fans of the show--not stumping readers with deduction puzzles ala Phoenix Wright games.

I've read it wrong. Lol

It's not like PW.

I am not familiar with the show. Will I be able to enjoy all the same?

I think you might be more emotionally invested if you're already familiar with the key characters and how their relationships have already developed over the course of the books and/or the show. But I think the game's writing still does a fine job in helping new readers come up to speed--you can unlock character profiles, and it's not too hard to infer certain things from dialogues. There are also references to key characters from past episodes/books, but there's nothing a quick search on the Internet can't fix if you want more details.
