iPod Problem

Okay. Here I go.
I have a 1g iPod Touch 8gb and 2.2 firmware
i have this big 4 gb Other category, and it's taking up a big chunk of my ipod's space.
I have no choice but to restore.
But, this is a new computer, and my old computer has all my backups/syncs etc
and for some reason, I CAN'T SYNC ON THIS COMPUTER, like, my ipod syncs for 2 seconds, then it stops
what the 💩💩💩💩
and to make it worse, i have all my paid apps and stuff on the ipod, and when i restore, BAM, no more saved games, no more apps, no more photos, etc
how do i send my photos/apps to the itunes without risking their deletion?

when you plug in your ipod and it shows up in itunes, right click its icon ( on the left ) and select Transfer Purchases. iPhoto will take care of your photos!!
