App description: Classic castle building and cannon shooting strategy is back, but better. Strategically place your walls and shoot the weak points of your opponent. Cast spells to defend yourself or crush your enemies. Convert crystals to gold to supercharge your energy and win!

- Two battle modes, a classic mode and an all new Creep mode with an innovative twist where having the biggest castle is not the only goal.

- Two adventure modes where you explore a large map and build the castle of your dreams.

- Online multiplayer with friends or random opponents.

- Four playable heroes, each with unique abilities and advantages.

- Twelve spells to protect yourself or bring the pain to your opponents.

- Amazing retro pixel art graphics and an awesome chiptunes inspired soundtrack that you won't be able to stop listening to.

Look down from the highest rampart at the enemy minions in the fields below and fire your cannons to destroy them. Wield the power of the elements as you drop thunderbolts and columns of fire on the walls of your opponents. For the first time ever, expand and explore on a large map with a persistent castle that lasts between play sessions. Whether you like strategy games, action games, tower defense games, or retro reimaginings of your favorite games of yesteryear, Castleparts is for you.

I'm happy to announce my new game Castleparts, out now for iOS, Android and also Steam Greenlight. It's a spiritual successor to the classic arcade and NES game Rampart, but I've added lots of new features and streamlined the original gameplay to make it easier to play.
Instead of discrete build and shoot phases, you can build or shoot at any time as well as casting spells. These actions cost energy which recharges over time.

Key Features
  • Online multiplayer against friends or against random opponents.
  • Two different battle modes, a classic mode and a new mode that totally changes the original formula.
  • Two adventure modes where you explore a large world, one of which allows you to build on a persistent map that lasts between play sessions.
  • Four playable heroes, each with three unique spells (12 spells total).
  • Pixel art graphics and an amazing chiptunes soundtrack.

I am starting to get burned out by games with iap currency in them. So before I rant, anyone know if this is just purchasable addons or currency?

Hey jsrco!

The IAP for the game is to unlock the 3 bonus characters and their spells. The game is a premium game with no ads. In the future I may add more game modes and characters. All new game modes will be available for free, but I may add sets of characters for a small cost.

I debated a long time before settling on the price for the game. I didn't want to have any IAP, but the reality is that adding new characters is expensive because new art assets are needed, and lots of development time is needed to add new spells to the game.

I hope this answers your question

Looks like an interesting take on Rampart...

Tasty pixel art, and by the same guy as VoxelCity, which I enjoyed.

Will probably pick this up the next time I get iTunes credit.

This is the closest thing to rampart I've ever played. I contacted developer a couple weeks when I first heard about this game and my search for something similar to one of my favorite sega genesis games has now been brought to iOS .

The controls are surprisingly easy and better than I imagined .
Not only is it better than I ever imagined but it's incredibly fun and addictive.
Been playing this game for week or two now and i highly recommend playing.
I usually get bored with games after a couple plays or a few days but this one keeps bringing me back.

Current Recommendations: Blocky Farm, Morphite, Cat Quest, Pocket Build

This looks great, is this online multiplayer only (or centric) or is there offline solo against AI?

Hey sparekarma!

The game is not only focused on online multiplayer. The two battle modes can be played against AI (with three difficulty levels) as well as online, and the two adventure modes are single player only. In those modes you expand as much as you can on a large map, and instead of an AI you are battling against ogres and skeletons that spawn on the map.

That's perfect! I was talking about purchases for more in game gold / gems! Picking this up in a moment!

Played tutorial and a couple single player matches, definitely a great take on Rampart formula (expands it nicely & keeps the intensity).

It is currently portrait only (which I do not have issue with) however menues do not scale well (with buttons and text cut off in places), once in gameplay scaling works great. Using iPhone 6S

On an iPad Air2, due to the added real estate, menus and text are fine.
