Name (and all variations) aside, the game looks rather uninspired. It doesn't appear to add anything new to the genre. I'm not particularly keen on the whole asteroids concept anyway otherwise I'd TOFTT. Anyone?

Well, I'm not exactly objective since the game's developer is currently sitting in the cubicle behind me, but I can say that there's more to this game than is immediately apparent.

First off, he wrote the game engine himself, from scratch, and although it's not obvious due to the 2D nature of Asteroids, the engine supports full 3D rendering (minus pixel shaders). Second, the game (and engine) is multi-platform. It builds and runs on PC, Mac, and iPhone. Finally, he has plans for a bunch of enhancements including, most interestingly, multi-player.

I realize he's priced it pretty high. I mean, that $0.99 could be your Ramen money. But, I don't think it's fair to declare a game "uninspired" without even trying it. That said, I have tried it, and I'd say "anemic" is more apropos.. (Just kidding, Chris!)
