Apparantly only beta testers can win the 1st and 2nd prizes, but anyone else can pick who they think the winner will be.
They are using Ad-Hoc versions, as upsidedown mentioned. The game had an open signup into the competition in its main thread for several days. Sorry eggzbacon, we felt that players had more control over their chance to win the first two prizes just by playing. And that there should be a prize for people who didn't make it into the play-test for whatever reason.
