Default VOIP calls over 3G

I'm considering jailbreaking so that I can make VOIP calls using fring/truphone over 3g, directly to a pc user. Could someone tell me what the voice call quality is like over 3g? Does truphone allow me to make voicecalls directly to a pc in the same way that skype does?
Thanks

Edit: done. Installed voipover3g, which makes appstore/fring thing that iphone was wi-fi connection. Using fring to skype over 3g works fine. Still can't download apps over 10mb. Backgrounder is great too; you can leave specific apps running in the background.

Wish I could find something to trick appstore (volpower might say it is however not being able to dl more then 10mbs proves otherwise) and native YouTube to think I'm on wifi

Supposedly a future update will fix the app store/iTunes issue. Not sure about YouTube though.

Start googling around. There is a program that allows you to trick the iPhone into believing that it is on a wifi connection, it worked awesome for me. I lost it when I updated to 2.2, but it's really a sweet deal!

I have for many hours on alternating work days (8-12 hour shifts) Security is the bomb if you have an iPhone for entertainment.

Glad I found this thread. Was wondering the same thing myself. Now that I've tried it I can say that in my experience voip over 3g works fine.

And for those not on WiFi, Nimbuzz is introducing a so-called “Dial-Up VoIP” option that lets users make calls over 3G in over 50 countries,

I've actually heard of people doing this. It's really hard but if you do enough research it might be possible.

It's not difficult at all.

Just go to cydia and get 3G Unrestrictor. This allows you to trick ANY program into thinking you're on wifi: app store for downloads over 10M, youtube for high quality streams, etc. This program is $2, but obviously worth it.

(laughs at non-jailbroken iphones)
