After finishing work on the superb iPhone rendition of Toki Tori developer Two Tribes have been working on something a little bit different; a movie licensed game. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs will be out this month so we caught up with Collin Van Ginkel, the Creative Director at Two Tribes, to learn more about the project and why core gamers should be interested...

I was hoping this game would be more platformer and less puzzler. But, I might still give it a try.

Wow. What is it with this platform and tie-in games? They're supposed to suck! This is yet another one that doesn't. Did you like Toki Tori? If the answer is yes, then you'll LOVE this. It's basically the same control mechanism (no surprise with Two Tribes developing). I was actually Luke warm with TT, but I think I will like this better. The levels are much longer, and listening to Scrat make his noises while spying acorns, pushing blocks, etc. is pretty great. It also looks amazing. It's 5 bucks, so that already knocks out a bunch of people, but if you're willing to drop a happy meal, you could do a LOT worse.

As someone who still goes back to Toki Tori every once in a while (in general I tend to dip in and out of puzzle games, so I play them for months), I've looking forward to this since it was announced. Sizzla's right -- it doesn't suck, and I would even go so far as to say it's pretty great. A couple of things that I appreciate over TT: 1) as Sizzla says, the levels are a lot longer and much more spread out, which for me makes the game feel less claustrophobic than TT (my chief complaint about it); 2) Two Tribes has streamlined Scrat's catalog of actions as compared with Toki Tori, which I think makes the game much more accessible (while still offering a challenge). As far as I can tell, it's as deep as TT, level-wise, so at 4.99 you're purchasing a heck of a lot of gameplay that hopefully will not get very repetitive (my other beef with TT). And, as can be expected, production values are top notch. All in all, I'm very happy with the game.

Where is the video? (yeah I need to complain about something ).
First impressions are good, I'll buy it soon (I've to finish TURN before).

There were Two studios who worked on the game? It's Fox Mobile on the iTunes devs line, not TwoTribes.
