Career Statistics are a little inconsistent. While the cumulative money is right on, the passengers delivered, perfect landings, etc. is actually reflecting one's lifetime statistics. To be consistent shouldn't these stats only reflect the current Career run (especially since they aren't even viewable if you don't have a career going at the moment)?
I suppose it can be a bit confusing. The idea is that you can keep a career going across multiple playthroughs. So your stats keep building. You can reset those values (but keep your unlocks) by just selecting to start a new career and numbers will be reset.

@cranker - No problem cranker, I understand it's a cool feature and would really add to the game. We'll see

@appfreak - Thanks for the feedback. We went for a sort of pixelated retro look, to keep it nice and clean and give an old school nod to Space/Air Taxi

If this is the case is it intentional that "money" is not a cumulative total of all earned fares and just your current career run's cash?

Yep the way it's calculated is...

Total Money Earned (Career Stat) - This is money made on fares on each level as you play (minus lost customers and fuel expenses). It'll just get bigger and bigger as an indication of the raw cash you made.

Current Money: This is the money you have as sort of an active account. This will fluctuate depending on the what you made/lost on each level and if you had to purchase lives. If you can keep this going it will roll over each playthrough - kind of to make the game nicer to get the unlocks, as you can buy more lives if you need to by using the cumulative earnings.

Okay, I get it now. I'll bet these stats will tie into some eventual unlocks, very clever.

Lovely little game! Love the art style and it's a lot of fun.

One little suggestion for a potential update..... steal most of Shift's control scheme!
Kind of like this:

No defined buttons for left, right or up thrust; press the left of the screen for left, the right for right. When you want to thrust up you press the opposing side of the screen whilst keeping your direction pressed (like Shift did for jump). ie: you're cruising right and want to add altitude, you keep the right side depressed and then the left side acts as thrust and visa versa. For vertical thrust just quickly release both sides and immediately and simultaneously press down both.

Only the down thrust and landing gear would have (hopefully easy to reach and unobtrusive) defined buttons, thus cleaning up the hud. Easy to reach controls and increased game view.
Edit 2: Pehaps you could quarter the screen; top half operates as above, bottom half the same but operates down thrust. Then you just need landing gear.... shake for landing gear?

Edit: Portrait menus and landscape gameplay? I'm in bed, my wrists are tired (calm down you lot, it's from all the nappy changing ( ) ), can we get landscape menus?

Love it but for a purchase the control buttons need to be bigger. Hopefully an update will solve this problem.

Default Loving the game but...

Really, really enjoying this game, but I am confused as to the point of the landing gear? It seems as though it gives you no extra benifit like extra cash for soft landing, or even helping to land cause you can land just as good without it, am I missing somthing here?
