Star Rangers $.99 sale -monday only-

Nope, I'm not with the developers,
but I saw this was posted in an old post and practically hidden by the end.

If you're a fan of the classic atari Star Raiders, you really owe it to
yourself to check out this game.

It plays identically to Star Raiders, with hi-def graphics,
additional scenarios and fluid controls.

This game seems to have fallen under the tidal waves of other recent games and I'm shocked it was never picked up and reviewed by any of the sites or publications, it definitely deserves to be seen and played.

Griff -- thanks for bumping this. I just found the game via the other thread and was delighted to find it for a buck. I would have paid five, as it is a fun, faithful take on Star Raiders. It is a little plainer than some ges like Pharos iv or Galaxy on Fire, but it also has a lot more strategic depth and smoother motion. Definitely one to try if you like the mix of galactic conquest plus space shooter action, with the added challenge of more limited instrumentation. There's no big arrow to say "Shoot HERE" like in some modern takes on this genre.

I love it!

Agreed, it's a great game, I'm glad you got a chance to get it.
I also like the additional scenario, defend the one starbase, it adds
a good twist to the normal theme.
There are other added cool features that aren't in Star Raiders but I
don't wanna spoil anything here.

Here's a quick video of the gameplay,

I dunno why they omitted the sound effects,
but I can vouch that the game's effects are very good.

This video will give you a quick glimpse of the gameplay,
the galactic map, long range scan, docking/repair, battle etc.

was hoping for some kind of sale on this as i was really uncertain, despite being a massive fan of star raiders.

1.99 would have done me but 99c is too good to pass on

I loved Star Raiders on the 2600. That was so awesome back then, especially with the "super-nifty" keypad controller that came with it. My friend had it on the 5200(?).

Anyways, I wasn't too sure until I saw the video, and the price. Bought!

I remember that 2600 controller, very cool at the time.
The 5200 was the best of the lot, had the sharpest graphics.
I've still got my old Atari 800 and to this day still play the original game every so often.
When Star Rangers hit, I was thrilled.
Well worth the $4.99, hell, I'd have probably paid $10 and not flinched,
At .99, it's a steal.

Yep, I had to buy it as well. I was originally on the fence at $5, even though responses were positive and claims were made that it was a very closely-cropped clone, but I ended up forgetting about it. With this sale though, you better believe I'm grabbing it. For a buck I could even forgive some deviance from the formula, even though I'm a big Star Raiders fan from way back.
