Ok this seemed a no-brainer to me, so I gave it a go and it worked, no downloading scripts to enable DFU mode and no changing system settings that have the potential to mess up your system.
I downloaded the latest Pwnage Tool and selected iPhone 3G, the software found my 2.2 IPSW file automatically (i.e. from the iTunes Library) and worked all its magic. Although I unselected the Activate iPhone 3G option in advanced mode, as my phone has already been activated! I then removed the '_Custom' wording from the finished filename and then copied the hacked file back into the iTunes folder [user]/iTunes/Device Support/iPhone Software Updates I pluged in my iPhone 3G and asked iTunes to restore it and everything went smoothly, my iPhone 3G is now jailbroken and I have full access to everything. why is everyone running around finding ways to re-enable DFU mode, we don't need it!! |
