Get the lite and hang out 'til Shift, then decide:

How can we suggest which one to get if one hasn't even been played by anyone outside of EA?

If you really want a racer now, get Asphalt 5 and if you like it get the full version.. if you can wait get the lite version of Asphalt 5 and wait for Shift

I'd say A5. Just because I really didn't like how Shift was done on console. I believe Real Racing is better for that sort of thing.

Recent purchases: Pac man CE, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, Mecho Wars, and Chaos Rings.
Upcoming Games I plan to get: Splinter Cell, GoF2

ea

Well, seeing that most of the ea games that have been coming out are very disappointing and the gameloft games are surprisingly well done, I'd go with Asphalt 5. The graphics are crisp, the gameplay exciting and there is little to no lag. I was very impressed with Asphalt. Plus, I believe there is miltiplayer? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But bottom line, we don't know when Shift is coming out and how good it will be so for now go with Asphalt now that they have the cop chases fixed and if Shift ends up being good, well, you may have some Christmas money left over. Good luck.

I'd suggest waiting. NFSU was a big disappointment but I'm not thrilled with Asphalt 5 either.

I though NFSU was a very entertaining racer with butter smooth fps.
Asphalt 5 has lots of nice features, but 20fps top was a huge dissapointment.

Get the lite version of Asphalt and see if the framerate is an issue for you.
Get NFSU if that's not already done and pray shift rocks
