This looks interesting, and looks well worth the $1.99. It's too bad that pretty soon it will probably be overshadowed by NOVA.
Oh, and how many levels are there in this game? Does anyone have a rough estimate of play time? |

This looks great! We need more devs to experiment with FPS on the iDevice. Will be buying it.
EDIT: I can't find this game in the Indian AppStore

There are 5 levels that incorporate 27 scenes. All of our Beta testers say the game is quite long. There is a lot of exploration and hunting for keys and killing bad guys. I can't place an exact number of hours, but it is quite long.

Do you know what the main link is to the Indian Store? If you right click on any app icon in the store can copy the link, I can try to see what the issue is. Thanks, |

No multiplayer. Otherwise this is a pretty ambitious title. Graphics are quite decent (nice use of textures, good view distance), and it runs smoothly on my 3Gs -- a few hiccups here and there, but nothing major. Enemies are well animated, though there are glitches with doors, which will close on top of enemies without causing them harm. There's even a bit of voice acting, as well as a helpful captain (the woman from the icon) who gives you instructions as you go forward.
The game open with a space battle cut scene and puts you right into the space station to "investigate" (read "shoot anything that moves"). So far I've made it only to the first checkpoint, but gameplay seems fairly basic -- walk around (and I mean "walk" -- more on that in a moment) shoot at masked enemies that materialize around you, move on. Soon enough you find a lock door, which leads to the inevitable access card hunt. Nothing that we haven't seen before in other platforms, but overall well implemented. The main issue, as usual, are the controls. The developers have wisely chosen to implement a MC:S style set up (joystick to move, swipe to aim) and for the most part it works well. There are two fairly serious problems, though: * Movement speed is slow. You're basically taking a pleasant stroll around the space station, with little sense of urgency even when you have two or three Half-Life 2 type enemies shooting at you. The game seriously needs a running mechanism. * The fire button is fixed. One of the great innovations of MC:S was the use of a tap-anywhere fire mechanic, which allowed you to aim and shoot at the same time. Here you have to press and hold an actual fire button, which basically freezes your aim. Eventually you learn to place the reticule around mid-height and just move to aim, but that kind of defeats the whole idea of a swipe-to-view. Neither of these issue are enough to keep me from playing further, but they might be deal-breakers for some people. Overall, though, it's another pretty decent post-MC:S first person shooter. |
