it's stupid to make price down during Christmas season???

recently, many developers make their games, apps free, price down, sure many of them think about that it can make their games, apps get a good sale during Christmas season, even after Christmas season..

but i dont think so!!!

why??? when the percent of (price down, paid to free) apps in appstore arrive at 1:1000, yeah, your apps have some chance to get hit, but when it's arrive
to 1:10000,1:100000....and so on..

Its economics. A lower price will increase the quantity sold (most of the time) and hopefully your revenue.

I think you should drop the price, because many websites/programs are aimed at recognizing price changes, so the ones that are noticed are the ones that change in price. Dropping the price to say 0.99 cents on a 4-5 star app is going to increase revenue a lot. Good luck adot!

Well if your app is the best 1 of those 1000 it is probably going to get noticed more. Sales also help generate interest and awareness on a sites like this, and somebody is much more likely to consider purchasing an app at $1 rather than $5. If you believe your app is worth the asking price, don't change it. If you think you will more than double your customers by going from $2 to $1, then it will be a smart decision. Making games free on the other hand makes no profit but builds up a lot more awareness and gets more people playing the game than a normal sale.

yeah, it's right , but when many of apps make price lower, it's seem to have a little affect apps sale. especially for small team apps.

Think about all the teenagers who are forced to go spend christmas time with their grandparents in Alabama or something. Am I the only one thinking boring?

AppStore has nothing new to offer due to Apple's christmas vacation. All the interesting games have already been played through. Those teenagers (and why not a bit older iDevice users as well) are going to look for those less desirable games to spend their time and that's where the lowered price comes in.
