Battle for Vesta v1

Battle for Vesta is a 3D space combat game set in an asteroid field. It uses touch based controls that are both fast and accurate. I could go on and on about it but a video is probably most informative:

Let me know what you guys think!

Here's a link to Battle for Vesta in the App Store, introductory price is $1.99:

I hadn't seen Alpha Wars before. Looking at the YouTube videos it is somewhat similar. I'll have to check it out and see.

I decided to try this, I am a big retro fan too

Game seems really nice so far, quick graphics (3g Touch) and fast gameplay.
Solid shaded polygons remind me of Elite Plus.

You need 3 fingers on the screen, one for thrust, one to steer and one to shoot. Once your not thrusting your speed drops off really quick

The swipe controls do work well for steering.
I am not always a big fan of accelerometer games but space games and flight sims are places where it works. I might like an option for accelerometer in a future update

Ugh no pause feature, and resuming after home puts you back at the menu. I'm ok with the home/return to menu as its such a fast paced game, but pause would be nice.

How many missions are there?

I'd give it an 8/10 if you like retro space shootemups.

Love to see this engine drive "Elite" or a reasonable facsimile.

I'm putting Pause into the game in the next day or so and I'm hoping to implement a save state on quit feature as well.

There are 20 missions including the training. They get progressively harder and the last three are pretty tough to beat. I'll add more missions with the update as well.

Update submitted, so I've got some promo codes

I just submitted a 1.0.1 update. It includes compatibility back to OS 2.0 and pause functionality with the option to resume or quit. Since a new binary is coming out I've got 7 promo codes to use up.

I'll PM a code to the next 7 people to post to this thread. If you get one and like the game I'd appreciate it if you could post a descriptive review in the App Store and here on this thread.

Thanks!
