Project 72 Official

We are a team of 4 people who are setting out on a mission to create a successful iPhone game from scratch within 72 hours. We have officially started the project and have created a Website where you and your readers can follow the progress.

www.dogtownstudios.com

The site is featuring:
Countdown Timer
Live video feed
Blog
Tweet feeds from the producers

Background story:
So we just got back to work after the holiday weekends and as usual at some point of the day, we're discussing the video game industry, iPhone apps, games and upcoming projects.

The discussion always end up with the iPhone market. New games and apps, the quality and price, and what makes some of them more successful than others.

Randomly we started to talk about the possibility of making a game in 7 days.

We have new ideas all the time so instead of focusing on the idea first and the marketing aspect second we decided to try a new approach and get people excited before we even begin working on a game.

A long time ago there was this guy that wanted to make an iPhone game without any experience in 30 days. I don't remember if he succeeded or not, but nevertheless it was a brave attempt, and I think the game came out quite nice.

Since we have some experience we wanted to try and make one even faster, and thought that it would be fun to write about what we were doing. So we decided to make a game in 3 days, which is 72 hours and try to turn it into a successful one.

Project 72 is born!

I made my upcoming game "Dang! Not Another Paper Game" last thursday to now, and I had a rough draft build of the game running. Shmups are my specialty I admit so I mass it quick, but its a totally original and unorthodox concept, and it feels good to make a game in a short amount of time.

Hope you guys make it!

Here are some pics, not to try to hijack your thread or anything.

Just a survival shmup with weird enemies and unexplained powerups, and the idea came out of nowhere ( more like 2AM with lots of tea and sugar!)
