Sonic the Hedgehog (non-port). Can't stop thinking about it since I played Sonic Unleashed (the day stages are effin' awesome!) no hedgehog engine (allows 2d to 3d and vice versa gameplay transitions) on the iphone, sadly

What about having a robot game where it's isometric and you just stomp the crap out of everything?

I recently discovered Cortex Command and using that amazing engine they have built id just like a lush beautiful 2D side scroller where you, as Godzilla or any other giant monster/alien/robot, generally blow the crap out of a lot of stuff. Their engine models 2D damage on the per-pixel basis and it looks amazing. Its really annoying to deal with in the real Cortex Command game because the physics make it so easy to die all the time, but if dieing wasn't your primary concern it would be a complete joy.
