20% Withholding from Japanese Income

http://macdaddyworld.com/2009/01/25/...f-missing-yen/

Quote:
“There is a 20% withholding tax in Japan until the Japanese tax authorities have accepted your tax exemption forms. This can take 90 days or longer. … They were required at the contract setup time in iTunes Connect. If you haven’t completed these and sent them in, you must or you should not have been paid.”

Japanese tax exemption forms? This is the first we’ve heard of those.

I think I did my paperwork in August, including the Japanese forms. I do recall reading the 20% tax thing, which is why I went through the trouble of filling it out. I got the impression from a friend of mine that the forms were easier for those of us not in the US.

DAMN! I was wondering about that. I noticed that the past 2 months there was a large discrepency between what the financial report said and what actually got deposited in our account. Thanks for the heads up Arn!
